If you have your proof of payment date, there should be no problem.

Was this online or through traditional snail mail? Some payments made online don't get registered until the next day, and then we all know about snail mail. If you calculate your grace period, and the updated information on your account, have the late fee removed.

As far as the increase in the interest rate, that might be a sign in the changing economy or because of the late fee. It wouldn't hurt to ask them for the reason.

I wanted to mention this site to you, not to discredit the Ripoff Report, but because this group of people are also not satisfied with Merrick Bank's service. I also wanted to throw it out there for anyone in general reviewing your Report. The site is consumergripes.org. They have a high head-count, in the Merrick's bank crowd. It's cost free to participate.

They have two branches in Utah, of which one is their main, and a branch in New York. I noticed you only had a post office box number, so I wanted to post some more contact information out there. Their address: Merrick Bank, 10705 S. Jordan Gateway, Suite 200, UT, 84095-3920. Phone: 1-801-545-6611. This will remain udated for a good long time.

Hope this helps.
