Made a payment to Nextcard; was never notified that Merrick Bank was taking over Nextcard.

My payment was cashed by Nextcard and it has taken 3 months of continued phone calls, copies of cancelled checks for them to credit my account.

I was assured the finance charges would be credited back retroactively. I received my statement today and they took back the payment because they state the check was from a third party. My daughters team incurred some charges and have been paying the card directly. Not a problem previously until Merrick decided they will not accept it. The third party called and asked that the account be credited; they said no. She asked that her money be returned to her; again, they said no.
What do I do? Merrick bank has $1,300 of the third parties' money and will not return it to her, nor credit my account.

It is a nightmare talking to them and there seems to be no resolution.
