TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
This letter serves as my official written complaint against Merrinette Williams dba AmerryKoon Cattery, located in Burleson , Texas . I purchased a pedigreed Maine Coon kitten from this breeder on July 23, 2007 for a price of $600.00. Copy of Sales Agreement is enclosed. According to the AmerryKoon website (www.amerrykoon.com) all her kittens are raised underfoot with lots of love. This was not true. When I took possession of my kitten, at 11 weeks of age, it was very unsocialized and scared of everything.

I immediately noticed this kitten became short of breath after only a short time of playing. I contacted Ms. Williams and she told me relax, hes just a baby. On September 9, 2007, I took Baby Bitsy (she called him Buddy) to the vet for his 16-18 week vaccinations. They gave him a FVRCPC and a feline leukemia vaccination. He was also dewormed at this time. Immediately following his vaccinations, he became extremely lethargic. Deciding this was a reaction to the medication, I gave him time to recover. Soon I noticed he was losing weight, yet had a bulging tummy. I again contacted Ms. Williams and she told me the kitten was ill and should be taken to the vet.

On October 9, 2007, I took Baby to another vet. He was immediately diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) and hospitalized. After 5 days at the vet, I was able to take him home accompanied by two antibiotics. He became weaker and weaker and eventually lost bladder and bowel control. He was euthanized on October 17, 2007 after a valiant fight.

I contacted Ms. Williams via email, and then sent her a letter on November 18, 2007. Copy of my letter and her email reply are enclosed.

According to the Sales Agreement, if the kitten dies from FIP, she will replace the kitten with another. I have been advised that AmerryKoon, and Ms. Williams, has a reputation of being a back yard breeder (kitten mill) and selling sick kittens. Several reputable Maine Coon breeders, my local veterinarian, a representative of the Humane Society of No. Texas , and the President of Cat Fanciers Association (CFA), verbally advised me against getting another kitten from AmerryKoon due to the strong chance it would also be sick. I have been unable to get written confirmation from most of these persons due to Ms. Williams history of threatening lawsuits. See email enclosed from the President of NTCC who was willing to reply.

Due to the highly contagious nature of Corona Virus, which mutates into FIP, I have since lost two of my adult cats also. These losses have caused me extreme trauma leading to psychiatric care for exacerbated clinical depression, as well as many dollars of expense. I am asking for a formal investigation of Ms. Williams and AmerryKoon Cattery.
