I applied for a new car loan online around the first of Feb. 2004, A Mr. Mike Gardner contacted me about a week later and informed me that they could finance a new car for me. I went and test drove the car and liked it. They were supplied with all the necessary forms from me , such as w-2 form and a recent pay stub. They let me take possesion of the car on Feb. 19, 2004 after signing the paperwork and assured me the financing had gone through.

They contacted me a week later and had me come in and sign more paperwork after i faxed them the necessary information again for the second time, because they said due to my income my payments would go from 383.00 a month to 353.00 a month. My first payment was due on the 20 of May. Now they called me at work on May 17, 2004 and requested the car back because the financing hadnt gone through. I contacted the finance company a week before and they requested a copy of my w-2 and recent check stubb, which I faxed and they assured me at that time that the loan would go through.

Now they want the car back. They have already gotten rid of my trade in and refuse to replace it. Im out a car and will lose my job due to no transportation. They really ripped me off and wont give me any answers and the dealership blames the finance company and vice versa. Why did they let me drive a new car off the lot with no financing? It is just unbelievable. I was ripped off plain and simple. Scammed out of a car, extra insurance payments, and will lose my job.

Folks almost always get much less than what their trade

Don't trade in a vehicle. Folks almost always get much less than what their trade is truly worth. That way if something like this happens, they get back a USED car and you keep what you had (of course then they would not likely had made the transaction).

Another Spot Delivery SCAM/FRAUD!

#3Consumer Suggestion

Sat, March 20, 2004

You've been taken by the spot delivery scam. Why not contact the Florida Attorney General's Office and file a report. That might not get your money back but with enough complaints an investigation and possible legislation may be drafted. PLEASE do not ignore this...write them a letter.

In the future (and for the benefit of those eavesdropping here) never, ever take delivery on a car until and unless you can receive INDEPENDENT verification of financing. If the dealership has a problem with this, then WALK OUT! When the salesman tells you "you're approved", then ask for a contact number for who ever is supplying the financing. Suppose its "XYZ Acceptance", go home and call directory assistance and call that number. Ask them to fax you all the details of their approval on their letterhead, signed by someone in authority. If they won't do it, forget the deal.

The SPOT DELIVERY SCAM is rampant in the car business. It is perpetrated on people with questionable credit. Type "spot delivery scam" in a search engine and see all the hits.

People, spread the word. Contact your state's AG
office. Help get the ball rolling on bringing the SLIME of the car business to justice!
