A case of mistaken identity that prompted Mesa police to rethink undercover narcotics arrest policies is scheduled to go to trial today.

Aaron Markley's attorney filed a $3 million lawsuit against the Mesa police and the city after a Mesa police detective confused Markley with a man who sold the officer methamphetamine in April 1998.

Markley, a bank employee and married father of two, did not learn he was wanted by the police until a background check at a gun show indicated he had an outstanding warrant.

The lawsuit was filed for legal fees and emotional trauma. Markley's arrest contributed to a decline in his health, he and his lawyer said.

Lawyers for the city argued that there is no evidence to show that Markley's illnesses--
"allergies and an upset stomach" --can be attributed to his arrest, according to court records.

"A mistake was made in this case, and the City has acknowledged that mistake, "deputy city attorney Catherine M. Bowman wrote." In this circumstance, Plaintiffs have filed to identify a cause of action that would entitle him to compensation."

The trial is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Maricopa county Superior Court in Phoenix, before Judge Edward Burke.

In case there is someone out there who doubts the contemptuous and downright callous attitude of Mesa's police department, you need only know that the Markley case and the even more ridiculous Brown cases involve conduct so outlandish and dishonest it sounds more absurd that farce fiction.

Quite simply, the Maricopa County Prosecutors, in both cases, based on bogus identifications which were pointed out and identified very early on, fraudulent prosecutions were persisted with for over a year. Brown, who was a corrections officer, had his TIME CARDS from Florence, proving absolutely that he was not the person involved. Brown did a huge amount of jail time.

There are many other such cases of blatant disregard for the rights of the innocent.

There may be some FOOL out there who thinks that anyone who attracts the attention of corrupt criminals like Mesa
P.D. actually has to be "guilty" of something...

Even more disgusting: the county prosecutors made a statement that it is "not their duty" to exonerate merely because they know they have the wrong party.

A question for the Mesa power apparatus to answer:

WHY DID NONE OF THE COPS OR PROSECUTORS WHO LIED WIND UP BEING JAILED FOR FRAUD????

Ask that question over and over and over again, until
some kind of answer is forthcoming.

The above story is very sedate and understated. The
suspect involved looked only very vaguely like the
man arrested.

Salient point made by the ARIZONA REPUBLIC long ago:
"After their various errors and machinations in this
case, Mesa P.D. determined not to seek the ACTUAL
suspect, Aaron Markey, at his home in Ohio or Indiana.
THEY NO LONGER HAVE SUFFICIENT CREDIBILITY."

That last sentence describes a hopelessly corrupt situation, in which a so-called police department has become nothing but a public relations arm of an even more evil city "civil administration", one which MUST be purged completely.

It happens ALL THE TIME... The CITY OF MESA is not interested in justice, it is all about revenue...

Mesa is making money directly off
the troubles of honest, hard-working
citizens, so that the scum of the earth
who run the dump can prosper and create
their own "workfare" programs in the
"law enforcement", probation, detention,
and related systems, to include their
bogus "justice" courts.

That is why fines, fees, all city
services here are brutally expensive.
That, and the fact that these skagnasty,
putrid filth--AND YES, HUTCHINSON, YOU
DIRTWAD, I MEAN YOU--enjoy "longevity
based" stability pay. Make their
Mormon and GOBN buddies from their
filthy inner circle of corruption pay
property taxes? Hell, NO... Oh, and
that $130 million or so deficit these
crooks ran up to build their idiot
"ART CENTER"...???? Well, that was
somebody else's fault... To pay for
their stupid excesses and scams, these
worms and cowards will usurp land and
money, and if they MUST, re-institute
a property tax, making sure to NOT
assess their narrow circle of scumbag
friends a penny more than necessary.

So what if they lock up a few hundred
or a few thousand innocent people? So
what if they exaggerate every criminal
and civil infraction? Why, it keeps
taxes low for "special people"...

This is CRIME. It has NO OTHER NAME.
And if you wish to observe the very
height of injustice, dishonor, and
rot, then note: Nobody EVER gets
prosecuted for this most heinous
form of ripoff. Why, prosecute
a city cop for perjury, false
swearing, false police reports,
incompetence, and malfeasance, even
when the case is OPEN AND SHUT????

No! That might open up some of the
holes where bodies are buried--and you
local cops know PRECISELY what we mean--and
SOMEONE in this pitiful, ignorant hole
might finally realize that this entire
TOWN is NOTHING but a RACKET.

Essentially, Mesa has no right to exist.
Or at least, less RIGHT to exist than, say,
the Mafia, which is a far more honest
organization.

This entire "city" is a scam.

Mesa cannot change for the better, until it is broken down into its most basic components, and EVERYTHING replaced...

When I lived it Mesa back in the 80's, it was nowhere near as bad as what I have seen on my current visit here. Oh, it was corrupt and dishonest, but not an open and shut case of "The City as Full-Time Criminals". Now, it is completely hopeless.

When I lived in Mesa, I did not yet have my law degree. I am back on business, but I am going to alert friends with the federal prosecutor's office to some of the evidence I have been shown.

Read the RICO and RUCO statutes. The City of Mesa, in general, and especially the POLICE DEPARTMENT, meet almost every criteria for criminal, corrupt organizations, including the extortion angles, especially, and the persecution of THE MAJORITY here is so obvious. I am transmitting this report through a friend, so my URL cannot be traced back to my office. I have family here, or I would NEVER come here.

Like New Orleans P.D. and the Ramparts Division of LAPD, this entire city and most especially its "police" need to be put under the most closely confining provisions of the above-named acts. They are, literally, destroying what was once a fairly nice town, for their own financial gain and egos. I have the hard evidence many of the contributors here gave me for safekeeping, and over time, it will all be presented in just such an action.

I keep wondering why this place has any defenders at all. It is far worse than New Orleans, Chicago, or Los Angeles EVER got, especially the civil rights violations at various levels, completely impossible police reports, and ridiculous incidents of manufactured evidence and doctoring of exculpatory materials. The obstruction of justice charges are particularly well-supported.

We didn't let this fester in the "Big Easy"...

Not for centuries, anyway.

Must be the inbreeding here.

What goes around comes around. This is an entire city administration that needs to be extinguished and banished, and the legal means to do it start soon.

Mesa is appealing the half-million dollar
judgement in this case.

Oddly, they are not disputing the
criminal fraud in the case (though they
ARE ignoring it) or the incompetence
involved, nor are they even discussing
the total lack of credibility which this
moronic debacle bestowed upon the collection
of nitwits who comprise Mesa P.D.'s
"leadership", identified on the
national scene as bozos of the lowest order.
They are simply contending that mere crime
and idiocy are not the basis for a
lawsuit against the municipality.

Mesa has gotten away with way too much
already, and the klutzes who run the city
have been as identifiably lucky as the
have always been corrupt. They do not
seem to realize that they are stirring
a broth which can devour them.

Federal charges could and SHOULD have
been brought against everyone connected
with the fake "law enforcement" lies
which underpinned the felonious acts
so common in this city, from which many of
us have suffered, and continue to suffer.

It's going to happen soon.

Better to pay the half million and
move on. Not, however, that these
stoneheaded KrytoNazis are capable of
learning anything from the experience...

There are another dozen or so similar
cases, just under the surface, and when
they come to light, this city's excesses
will cause cash pay-outs, and these in
turn will push this community even further
into the red ink of deficit.

It's time the REAL criminals in this
community were cornered and dealt with.
The citizens are getting tired of paying
the bills for their insanities.
