Complaint against Metro Towing, Nation Wide Insurance and Agero.

To summarize: I was in an accident on Aug. 4th. My insurance company had the vehicle towed from the scene of the accident (working with Metro Towing through Agero) to a tow yard so the adjuster could start working on it while I was out of town the following week. The tow driver originally told me the yard was in Aurora, but he gave me no paperwork. 8/14: I called ins. company for status update supposed to tow car from tow yard to auto body shop on either 14th or 15th. I hear nothing the entire week. I leave message for adjuster on Friday 8/18. Saturday night 8/19: Denver PD calls me. They attempted to pull over a similar vehicle with dark tinted windows with my license plate in the back window. It runs from police.

Monday 8/21: I call ins. company again for the first time I learn that they don't know where my car is and haven't been able to find it since the day of the accident. I was given 10015 E. Harvard Ave. Denver CO 80231 - I drove there myself after work and took pictures. There is no tow yard there. Tuesday 8/22: I get a call from another towing company wanting to tow my car from the scene of the accident. Confused I called Agero and learned that on the 4th my car was actually towed to 7102 Raleigh St. Westminster CO 80030. I drove there after work on Tuesday and took pictures. There are several fenced, locked storage lots there; however, my car wasn’t in any of them.

Metro Towing told Richard (Operations Supervisor with Agero) they did tow my car to their storage yard in Westminster on 8/4 and that someone picked it up between 8/7 and 8/11, but they have no record of who or when. I find this very hard to believe since that is how they earn their bread and butter. (daily storage fees)

Metro Towing says they share the tow yard with other tow companies so others have access to this "unmanned" lot.

I have now filed a stolen vehicle report with Westminster Police. I don't understand how a vehicle can be stolen while in the care of my insurance company and they only want to give me the blue book value for the car which is what I would've received if I didn't have to go through all of this extra hassle. I'd love to talk with someone to give more details and I have pictures. The police say that keys are often left in vehicles at these “unmanned” lots. To me that is asking for theft. Thanks.
