Metro Van Lines CHARGED ME 4X MORE THAN ORIGINAL QUOTE! STOLEN ITEMS , LIARS, THIEFS,WONT ANSWER PHONE!CROSSED STATE LINES! Rockville, Maryland
I contacted this company, and a woman named Jessie answered me On a Sunday-I gave her all the information-and items that would be moved, distance, etc. She then sent me an email invoice for approximately $890. Explaining it costs $89 per hour, and it would involve about 10 hours of work.
As the date grew closer, I called to re-affirm the date, and time. I then talked to Jeri, and she confirmed it, and said Let me send you a new invoice-because that price is not correct. She then emailed me a new invoice for $1500 and change. I was upset, but she told me the other woman forgot to put in several charges, etc.
On the moving day, the "head" guy took me aside, as the other 2 started loading the truck, that it would be a little bit more than I was quoted. Well, the little bit more ended up being $3000!! I was sick with grief. My husband Is in stage 4 cancer, SO-my daughter (who had traveled down from PA to help me pack),and I tried to make sense of this with him.
We had packed everything ourselves, and had both our vehicles loaded to the gills with things we didnt feel needed excess packaging, etc. The rest was ready to go. He had an answer for EVERYTHING, and said there was a fuel charge, a packing charge, a packing material charge ($900), an hourly charge (which I thought The $89 per was)-it was a horrible situation.
He more or less said what do you want me to do? take your stuff off my truck? I'll have to charge you anyway. They wrapped and boxed things that did not need to be. and were done in less than an hour-it was only a 12 x 50 mobile home. No appliances were taken, except for a spare fridge.
They left an hour before us, and we were so worried they would arrive before us-Well, we got there an HOUR BEFORE them! I since came to find out they must have parked somewhere and went through our things.
My husband is now dying, and I have a severe spinal disease that leaves me very physically limited, so we are not in the least unpacked -except to live comfortably. However, each day, we are finding more and more items missing. For one, a Beautiful diamond cross my husband bought me, and another cross, not diamond, but very sentimental as it was bought last Christmas-probably his last. Several other pieces of jewelry, CDs, several expensive collectibles, etc. We will, I am sure, continue to find missing items for quite some time.
Also, when they finally arrived, he would not remove any of the furniture UNTIL I paid the balance of $3000 to him in CASH!
I have tried calling the office several times, That has resulted in being told those woman dont even work there, never have, being hung up on-after being switched from line to line, and screamed at. Also, they left the fridge out on the front porch!! They said they couldnt get it in. All they had to do was take the doors off-but they were too lazy. The nasty woman at the office said, "why should they have? they worked hard all day for you!" hmmmmm-Maybe for like 2 hours-The rest of the time they were lost in space, driving and going through my things, and stealing them.
I forgot to mention, for all there unecessary "packaging", many items were damaged, dinged, and scratched.
I very badly NEED and would like some help in trying to recoup some of my money, and most especially get my jewelry back-or at least be compensated for it. I am sure it has been sold, or is on one of their GF's by now!
