Michael Alan/Allen Ponder Thief! Farmers and Contractors: Do not hire Michael Ponder! Farmington/Aztec New Mexico
If you are a farmer or contractor in the Four Corners area of the US: Watch out for a guy named Michael Ponder! (He answers to the name Ponder and is from the Farmington area of New Mexico.) He was born 6/21/74, has dark-blond hair, 5'8" and seemingly sincere. Don't believe it! He's a drunk, meth and pot addict and thief.
I hired him, and after having him work his butt off for a couple of weeks and gaining my trust, I took off for a few days leaving him in charge of the house. The next thing I know, I'm out $30,000 worth of firearms and jewelry. While I was gone, he let his friends in the house, showed them where my stuff was, and let them clean me out to clear up HIS drug debts! He also gave away all of my food and my firewood to his friends.
Michael Ponder is a meth addict and he thinks nothing of making YOUR stuff HIS stuff. He would grab my HIDDEN truck keys and take off in my truck even though he never could show me proof of a driver's license and he was NOT allowed to drive it because he always drank and drove and would pile all of his drinking friends in it and take off for parts unknown for hours at a time. He's had two DUIs within the last three years. It's highly doubtful that he has a driver's license.
He gave away food from my 'fridge and pantry, gas for my lawn-mower, tools and more, to his friends. He loaned my stuff out to so many people I can't find it all. He destroyed so many things around here that it's costing us a fortune to have it all fixed. He doesn't care about ANYONE'S property -- including his own.
He's a terrible worker when he does work and he does simply awful construction even though he'll tell you all day long that he made "millions for others." (You should see my chicken coop! Even the chickens are embarassed to be seen in it.)
According to Ponder, he has two children in the Durango, Colorado area and an ex-wife/girlfriend named Tasha. If that's true, he's a dead-beat dad, too. He says "she" wouldn't let him see the children for the last two years. Come on now; if I were a parent, I'd chew my own arm off to see my kids no matter who said I couldn't.
Because of the wreakage he left here in our neighborhood, our entire neighborhood made a pact that whoever got him in their truck first escorted him to New Mexico. I was the lucky one who made the 140 mile trip in 70 minutes just to get rid of him. I dropped him off in Cherry Hill but he's probably in Aztec or Farmington if not Texas or Oklahoma where he has family.
Michael Ponder NEVER takes responsibility for his own actions and ALWAYS blames it on someone else. He's very sincere and can con virtually anyone by acting like the "good" Mormon boy he was raised as. It's just an act! He'll steal you blind, mistreat your animals, and tear your stuff up.
Buyer Beware. Don't hire this man, he'll take you for everything you've ever worked hard for because he doesn't believe in work -- hard work or easy.

Michael Ponder and DJ Unsell Update

Michael Allen Ponder was arrested for this crime and brought back to Utah from New Mexico to face charges. After spending a month and a half in jail, he was released due to lack of evidence. The courts left open the possibility of his being re-charged with the crime once they have more evidence. If you have evidence against Michael Ponder, please let the San Juan County Sheriff's Dept. know about it. He has temporarily gotten away with this theft, but it is not necessary for there to be anymore victims before he is brought to justice for his crimes.
DJ Unsell refused to show up for court to testify against Michael Ponder. DJ Unsell (a convicted felon) confessed to the crime and named Michael Ponder as his co-defendant; Unsell is now very much a suspect and we are expecting an arrest warrant for him at any time.
DJ Unsell's aunt showed up in court to testify FOR Michael Ponder even though she hates Michael Ponder and he's stolen from her father and her, too. By testifying FOR Michael Ponder, she opened the way to having her nephew arrested for the crime -- for that we'd like to thank her. Michael Ponder told me he was sleeping with her; I didn't believe it at the time, but I do now.
Another "friend" of his made sure he had a ride from jail; this "friend" doesn't know that Michael Ponder used to "help" his wife out almost every day after he would see this "friend" leave for work. You reap what you sow.
Michael Ponder is probably back in New Mexico and working in construction. If you hire him, BEWARE! He is a thief and he will steal you blind. He tells people he's "made millions for others" -- don't believe it! He never showed up to work in order to make these "millions for others." He does not have a driver's license due to non-payment of child support. He was given court-supervised visitation with his children but he refuses to contact them. He will tell people he is sleeping with your wife and that he has slept with either just your wife or you and your wife. He's a sleaze-ball in the extreme and he likes to cause as much damage to other people as he can.

There is an arrest warrant out for Michael Ponder three counts of felony theft (guns). The arrest warrant is out of San Juan County Sheriff's Dept. in Monticello, Utah. The detective's name is J. J. Bradford and he can be reached at 435-587-2237.
