I got scammed with fake speakers. These two young guys about 21yrs of age pulled up and asked me if I would like some free home speakers at the car wash. It was on 3/31/03 at 4:30PM the one guy introduced himself as Mike(Michael Murphy).

They claimed to be from American Sound in Schamburg,IL (does not exist). They had gotten extra speakers on and their boss did not know. They waited to sell them to make some extra cash. I paid them $700 cash for 4 SL-1100 Dogg digital Loudspeakers. I guess this guy has an account at Bank One.

These speakers sound good and are extreamly loud but two of the four 5" speakers are just fake fronts. Not stolen just fake crap is all.

Bad facts and contradictions

Your facts seem to be a little off. If it was actually Mike Murphy who talked to you then he would have said he was from Cincinnati, OH, not Schamburg, IL (Chicago) since he worked out of the Cincy office and never Chicago. While American Sounds does have offices in both cities (Schamburg, IL does too exist), his invoice, license plates, and receipts would have had the Cincinnati location printed on them.

Minor detail, but you claim that you paid cash for the speakers then commented "I guess this guy has an account at Bank One." What does one have to do with the other? Either you wrote out a check or you followed him to his bank.

Also you claim you got scammed yet you say "These speakers sound good and are extreamly loud...". Even if the cones were a "Fake" if the product does what it is intended to do then it is a worthy product. As far as the "Fake" cones, they do have two purposes.
1. To improve aethetics
2. If you notice the SL-1100 has no bass port. These cones are a substituion for that.
