I was moving due to traumatic life circumstances, and Michael's Movers were local and appeared to be within budget. This experience turned out to be the absolute WORST experience in moving I have Ever had.

I moved from a small 2 BR apt. in town to another in same town. Only 4 large pieces of furniture (2 mattresses, 1 Hutch, 1 dresser) were owned by me. NO large appliances(refrig/stove, etc.)

2 men and a large truck arrived and the movers were clearly in foul moods-agitated and talking in a rude manner-calling their boss(Mike) complaining that "This is a BIG move. We need another truck sent here and this will be an all day move"

I have moved several times over the past 2 decades, moves MUCH more complex and when I owned Much more. For THIS move-I was on a first floor-moving 1/2 mile away to another First floor space. No living room furniture-no Dining Room furniture. I had been quoted a 3-4 hour time frame and quoted a price of 500.00

Many angry calls between these men and their office-in front of me,their customer. I was in tears-as they told me their truck was "half-full" already.
Over the next 6-8 hours they spent MOST of the time wrapping and wrapping things that did not require protection.(pillows/soft chairs etc)

I ran out to get them lunch and later-more beverages-
I returned and they were IN the truck and yelling for me to drive-they were "done" and would follow me to new place.

They remained in terrible moods all day-blaming me for this long move.
Bottom line is that I paid via check 1,000$ I could Not believe the charge- friends had recently moved from a 3 story mansion and paid the same.
Because I wanted to be through with this move-I paid(and, stupidly tipped!)

I returned to the old condo the next day to turn over keys-only to find the place had been left in complete disarray-and LOTS of my belongings had been left there-on the floor-including my computer and printer-lots of boxes of my sons things-and 1 Large TV plus 2 air conditioners.

It was clear that while I was out-they simply decided to quit.
The worst part was that I needed to make 3 or 4 more trips using friends to help me complete this move.

Over the next few weeks,I tried in vain to speak to "Michael" the manager.
The same receptionist answered my calls and took my messages and promised again and again that "Mike" would get back to me THAT day.
It took multiple calls(at least 10-20).on my part .before he ever called me back.He claimed to have been "out of town".

After listening to my story he promised to come to review my belongings-including a few items damaged(my sons bed-was broken)in the move. We found a time that worked for both of us-a Thursday evening-He never showed up-never contacted me in any way-

I had assistance from a male friend at work-who too was outraged.
That was nearly one year ago and "Mike" has NEVER contacted me-
and I have never been connected to him(his sec'y takes messages).

I have never fully recovered from this financial and emotional trauma.
I have been ashamed that I was TOTALLY ripped off at the worst time in my life-and by a business who(allegedly) is in the business of helping people.

As a 20 year employee at one of this city's top Harvard teaching hospitals-as well as being an employee at Univ. of MASS (a Nursing Instructor).
I am very well networked-and in my line of work-Client/patient/customer satisfaction is First and Foremost. On a scale of 1-10 this so-called "Move" I made using "Michael's Movers" definitely was a "One". and that is being generous.
Terrible leadership-horrendous people skills.
