A few months ago my husband went to a home and garden show out at Notre Dame's Joyce Center. There, he filled out an entry for a "chef" to come to our home to cook us a meal in order to show off his cookware. That man was Akos Kovach and his cookware was Cordon Bleu.

Well, wouldn't you know it but a few weeks after the event at the Joyce my husband received a phone call informing him that he was one of the "lucky" entries drawn for a home cooked meal. This man Akos Kovach came into our home touting his great cookware and cooked us a very simple meal of red potatoes and baked chicken. He then began pressuring us to buy his cookware. My husband and I had no intention of buying any cookware however Akos Kovach began to tell us the following about Cordon Bleu

He told us it was a safer form of cooking as little water had to be used so the "nutrients" of the vegetables did not escape the water. He also told us that teflon was unsafe and poisonous to the consumer. We were so troubled by this that we bought an entire set of cookware for close to $3000.

Now the truth of the matter. Cordon Bleu cookware is not healthier. In order to cook items such as eggs, one must dump so much oil in the pan to keep them from sticking that you might as well schedule your open heart surgery.

Second, food is nearly impossible to clean off of them. I have spent hours upon hours upon hours cleaning these pans.

The pans stain and once when they were brand new were a pretty silver are now a dull washed out bluish tinted color.

The pans handles become dangerously HOT HOT HOT during cooking. We were told prior to buying them that the handles in no way do this and were very safe.

When we attempted to call Akos Kovach about this we were met with hostility, contempt, and laughter. Yes laughter. He informed us that in no way would he stand behind his product and his exact words, "Your not using enough oil."

Enough oil? I thought these pans were supposed to be healthier to cook with. How is that healthier?

This is in reference to Crystal Sullivan who had complained about Cordon Bleu cookware and Michiana Housewares.

Mrs. Sullivan had called my office 7 months after I had sold her the cookware.
She was very belligerent and used vulgar lanaguage. I had tried to set up a time to show her again how to use her pans, but she refused. When there is blue stains in the bottoms of pans, she is using too high heat. Using much more heat then required will cause things to stick and burn. I had sent her a letter where I offered help again, which she refused and sent back. She didn't pay over $3,000. for her cookware like she stated only $2,377 plus tax and shipping. She bought the largest set we had after I had should her all the sets that were available. That was her choice. She was upset and didn't want to listen to anything I said.
Our pans clean easily with minimal care. She should refer to the DVD supplied with her pans. I will, still show her how to use the pans and supply her with any help needed if she calls again.

Sincerely,

Akos L. Kovach
