I want to report a computer company that had swindled me out of nearly two thousand dollars in 2001. On the advice my sister, who had never bought a computer but wanted me to do business with this company, which is owned by the father of her best friend, I went to Santwani and for a Christmas present, I bought a computer for myself, my first, because I was writing a family genealogy with many pictures and maps, and I loved accessing the Internet at the library.

The computer had problems from day 2. I had to take the entire hard drive back to Sam Santwani, and he claimed to have "fixed" it and charged me $100. Over about 8 months, this continued at least once every two weeks with the system working WORST, not better, with every visit.

Once when I told him to keep my photographs and MS Word docs alone, he ERASED them and thought nothing was wrong. He claimed I never told him. What a lie...he knew how hard I was working on this book. Thank God I had kept SOME on a zip drive. But an entire chapter was erased which he shrugged his shoulder to when I was in tears telling him this was a "life's work."

Santwani had a Russian emigre working for him in a work area that was strewn with computer parts, tools, and other objects. The final charge was him charging me again, this time for $200. I had it and upon paying him, I told him I was taking him to court.

I hoped he would not show when his suepeona date came up, but the little man came and we appeared before a small claims court. I tried to explain the situation, but without a sophisticated way of explaining things and the outright LIES Santwani told the judge (which included a threat to shoot him...LOL!!!) which by the way I could NOT rebut, I lost the case. I vowed to put that evil little dirtball out of business.

Needless to say, the next two computers I have owned, a Herko computer (a local company) and a Dell have NEVER needed a trip to a repair service and only seldom have I needed to call the company for help.

The owner of Microcom, Sam Santwani is a complete scumbag and thief, and has ripped other people off as well. His reputation is in the toilet according to people who work with computers, including hosts of local radio computer shows. Rochester citizens should avoid that loser place and hopefully by word of mouth it will go out of business.
