Ripped of by Microsoft because my laptop was replaced in 2008 not 2009 using Windows Vista OS. I was having issues with my laptop, which had Windows XP installed that I had only one year, so the manufacturer replaced it with Windows Vista installed. Within a two-three months, I had several issues, which are ongoing still to this day. In 2009, after Microsoft finally acknowledges and is satisfied that customers are really having horrible issues with their new OS from 2007-08, they replace Vista with Windows 7 only to customers who had Vista since 2009 and not before. So for that reason I was stuck with a defective product that Microsoft knew of since 2008!! Horrible way to do business and disgusting way to treat 2008 customers who were and are still stuck with Vista. All Vista customers should have gotten automatic upgrades to Windows 7. Many if not all, 2008 customers were reporting issues and Microsoft plainly ignored a bulk of its customer base. In other words, nothing was done. I also blame my computer manufacturer for continuing to do business with Microsoft for that reason, but they make money off ill treated customers (some of their own) so they don't care. Well...when I do get a new laptop or tablet, it won't be with anything having to do with Microsoft. Very callous, inconsiderate, horrible company. No wonder they have lost customers to their competitor. I'll be the next to do the same!!

Given this guy's understanding of operating systems (as evidenced in his post), he should probably stick with Microsoft.  I feel confident that converting to Linux might lead to suicide in short order.

You can always leave Microsoft and switch to Linux or even Apple.

The problem with Apple's OS is that you are stuck with buying Apple hardware too.  Can you imagine the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth if Microsoft made you buy Microsoft computers if you wanted to run Windows?  And yet the Apple folks think Apple walks on water.

Anyway, the point is, you are not completely stuck using Windows, there are alternatives.

"I also blame my computer manufacturer for continuing to do business with Microsoft"

So what brand system software do you expect the manufacturer to use? Avoiding Microsoft is like trying to build a house without a hammer.

Yes and No.  I don't think you have any disagreement, to put it nicely that Vista wasn't great.  But I never heard of anything that what you seem to think amounts to a "recall" of Windows Vista.

I do remember that to not have sales of new computers slow down, there was offers by various(but not all) computer manufacturers and retail stores that if you bought a computer with Vista during a certain time frame, that when Windows 7 was released you would get an upgrade to Windows 7.  This also carried over for a while once it was released so that retailers would not be "stuck" with a bunch of Vista computers.
