Complaint Review: Microsoft Xbox 360 Live

Microsoft Xbox 360 Live Keeps your bank account information in their system and will NOT remove it as payment option. You must constantly remember to set your account off for automatic payment. If you have your account as auto renewal off and you make a payment, it resets back to auto renewal. Washington

Microsoft keeps setting my account back to auto renewal on!  I keeps setting the account back but I have been charged several months for Xbox live when I did NOT want it because I couldn't afford it for that particular month.  But, because they keep setting my account to auto renewal I was charged and I feel that it is without authorization!!! If I have my account set with auto renewal off, I expect to keep it off unless I authorize them to turn it on.  Also, I cannot remove my bank account information from my account information unless I replace it with another payment option.  If I want to renew the d**n membership, I will do so on my OWN!!!  This is like being held hostage!!! I will soon be buying a PSP 4, then I don't have to deal with Microsoft, the filthy rich greedy b*******.  I think everyone should boycott Microsoft.

I don't think a minor incident like having an auto renewal feature not working justifies for a national boycott. Especially Microsoft, creator of Windows and its based software. Not being a fangirl about the company, just being frank. Question: when you first signed up for xbox LIVE did you select to receive email updates about the product? If so, did you read the messages?

And so you're going to instead buy a PS4 thinking this will solve the problem? What if the same problem occurs with Sony Playstation Network? Sony...another filthy, rich, greedy b***** company.

I'm currently signed up on the LIVE Gold 3-month membership for $24. About a couple of weeks or so before the due date I receive a reminder about an upcoming payment due with the amount and my selected payment option. Haven't had a problem yet and I've had this for several months now.

I have my payments set up to draw from my Paypal account, which is what I recommend.

You can easily call the support center. I found them to be very helpful. I had made a purchase from the Marketplace only to find that the game I wanted was only compatiable on systems with an actual hard drive and I have a 'Slim' which runs on a memory unit. It's stated that they don't give refunds on their product but the rep did offer me another game compatiable with my system for the same price, only I couldn't find a game of interest offered at $6.99.

Good Luck

I understand that you can buy prepaid and normally that's what I do, however, I used my bank account in the past to pay for xbox live because I didn't make it to town to get a card.  The problem is Microsoft will NOT remove my bank account information from their system.  I feel I should be able to remove my personal information from their system if I don't want it there.  That's my BIG complaint.  The account belongs to me and I should be able to remove it without replacing it with a different bank, but it won't let you.

Microsoft is NOT intentionally resetting your auto renew. When ever there is a update to their software, the system defaults back to original settings. I have found that if you do a update you WILL have to reset your payment options. You can also change the payment information by buying a PREPAID debit card and using that for your xbox online purchases. This way YOU control what you spend.
