Xbox 360 has 1 year warranty. Xbox video output quit working exactly 1 year from the date the box was opened. Microsoft will not honor warranty.
It was a xmas gift and was opened on 12/25/06, the console stopped working on 12/25/07. Called Microsoft on 12/27/07 and they told me because the day I ordered it online 12/15/06 was past the year it was out of warranty. Service rep would not even consider fixing under warranty. Said even if it was 1 day out of warranty they would not honor their warranty. A $400 gaming system should last a lot longer then a year. Xbox 360's motherboard has 33% failure rate. What if 33% of GM's cars were defective - people and the government would be screaming. I have all receipts and documentation. There are a lot of websites detailing the inferior product Microsoft
put out in the xbox 360.

Microsoft said it planned to spend more than $1 billion on an extended warranty program that would cover an "unacceptable" number of repairs to the consoles. "The important impact for us is that our customers know we're going to support the console and support them and, if they have issues, we'll take care of it," Robert J. Bach, president of Microsoft's entertainment and devices division, told The New York Times in an interview.
