For the past couple of days I've been trying to get things in order so my boys can get their Xbox Live. From the jump it was trouble being transferred to lines with no one on them but a recording and then a dial tone.

After I got the hang of that trick I got someone on the line only to find out that I had a manufactures defect. Now, most times when you have a manufactures defect they are fixed for free at most you pay for shipping. Not these guys $99 for an extended warranty and a month free of Xbox Live. Give me a choice weather I want an extended warranty or no or the Xbox Live Gold don't force me into a sale to get your faulty equipment fixed.

The supervisor Mark told me that he wanted to be honest that there was nothing he could do with it being out of warranty, but he said if I wanted him to tell him that he could do it that he would fix it free of charge and I stopped him and let him know not to promise me anything he could not deliver. I told him a man's word is as only good as he worth. I asked detailed questions so that he could make a choice to server man or God and he said he could not change the policy. I also at that time tipped off that I was recording the call and he quickly dismissed himself from the call. I as well as my wife work in customer service and all of our calls are recorded and I'm never worried about a recorded call, why was he.

Many of you may feel that this is no rip off, but when your equipment fails and it's no fault of the consumer and it has been doing so you are responsible. I talked to the gaming stores down here and they were sure I was going to get the service I required from such a reputable company, but after they listen to the conversation a couple are second guessing dealing with the products at all, especially during these times. Thank you all I pray that you don't have to deal with the same mistreatment as my children who are innocent in it all..

If your product is out of warranty I would not expect free repairs.

Additionally, if you were recording the phone call you need to inform the person that you are recording the phone call or you are in violation of the law.

Out of warranty?

I do not work for microsoft, but with a retail store in which I work in video games and I am very familiar with most all products.

In your complaint, you say that your product was out of warranty.

Microsoft puts a 3-year warranty on the Xbox 360, and so at the very minimum your Xbox is 3 years and 1 day old.

Just a simple question : How long do you expect them to cover their product? The 360's warranty was extended around 2 years ago to 3 years (up from just one) from large amounts of issues with the 360's.

I know my atari is in my closet and well out of warranty but if something in it breaks by no means would I expect the company to fix it for free, regardless of the problem. However if my nintendo DS which I purchased just 4 months ago would be taken care of for a manufacturer.

Long post short: Things dont last forever. Sorry it broke but its not their responsibility since they have honored their warranty for the entire period (whether you needed it or not)
