On a Friday a couple weeks before Xmas, myself and 3 othe semiconductor engineers were brought in to a room and basically handed pink slips. Between the 4 of use we have 90 plus years dedicated experience with either hardware or software application in semi "test".

This company is so mismanaged that with less than 80 people on site their HRperson did not even know there was a lay off. There was no PACKAGE OFFER at ALL! Not hey

here is a resume building seminar we are going to send you to. Or here's a head hunter we got in touch with. Or and image this concept here is 60 days notice we would like you to give our Austin guys a full pass down!
DUMB! DUMB! and DUMBER!
Or do you think giving us a one on one might be a mature grown up way of letting a white collar professional go,  as we are grown up and have had our ups and downs in our professional lifes.

Then to top it off they gave us 20 min to pack, followed us around like criminals, and upon return of personal property forgot, were still treated unprofessionally, and even them keeping personal property in the form of prior companies (I worked for) manuals. Some in which I earned takeing $5k maintanence courses.

Listen this company is never going to change, they basically tell you be thankful for the job, never recognize talent, because they do not know what it looks like. You see none of them came from any type of Semi conductor indrusty standard, before managing Micross. You would thinkthey maybe managed a Peep Boys.....aghhh Second Shift!

People walk around there expressionless, there is no co-op feeling. No one hangs out with anyone else, they always seem bitter, or mad. I would say it was a hostal feeling enviroment.

Listen take my advice, work for a puplic held company, you won't have to walks amoung 6 toes!

What: Layoff of engineering position at the company Micross

When: 12/02/2011

I have worked a full time position as a hardware engineer at the company I joined at the time was called Chip Supply. We are a semiconductor company that packages and tests semiconductor devices for mostly military and medical applications. The Automatic Test equipment is the equipment (testers)  I was responsible both for upkeep when not working Preventive Maintenance, and adding more for retrofitting if full tester damage was happing due to age (such as retrofitting water supply cooling hoses to the HP83k that were leaking)

Finding and installing a whole test floor UPS to fix the 45 plus power outages we had over a 7 month period.  We were bought by a company called Micross about 6 months ago. I have an intensive past work history, coming from an ATE hardware career with the company Teradyne

http://www.teradyne.com/corp/about.html

There (Teradyne) I worked as Product support, field support, lab manager, retrofits, installations, reliability, and design support engineer positions.

The story:

I and 3 other engineers were asked to come to Building #4s conference room (90 plus years of professional dedication) on 12/02/2011 at approximately 2 PM. 2 of the engineers have 50 years at that position. I will have 2 years in January, and I believe the 4th was there about 5 years.

Anyway they (my boss (Dan B_X), and his boss (Dan W_X)) said that we were being let go due to restructuring of the company and not for performance.  Mind you HR was not told of this action. And did not know about it until after action was done!

We were then handed a piece of paper call Termination Report (see attached) and told we had to pack our personal belongings and exit (Like we were criminals). I felt as rushed as my former boss was following me around that in turn I know I left 20 plus personally purchased technical manuals bought before ever even working for the now Micross, as well as personal contacts and two draws of file folders.

There was more but I wont realize what in the future. And to think the night before we received a shipment from my bosses former site Austin Semiconductor and the equipment came in crushed, due to bad packing. I had made the comment that someone from Austin is going to get walked (fired) as may have happened at my former Teradyne. The boss immediately blamed the driver, and I disagreed. He then moved to the riggers, and again I disagreed. And thats where it stopped. Knowing full well my boss should be realizing the person he is paying to move his family and my replacement. They guy who gets a few trips out to shop around, The guy who knows how much extra money Micross is going to pay, Is the guy over the 2 shipments from Austin to Orlando did thousand of dollars in capital damage.

If these guys did sign contracts I would cut my losses, so

Micross can become a profitable company.

I fell this is one of the most disrespectful ways any

company can lay a person off not even having the common courtesy do conduct one on one with a white collar

employee that has 20 plus years of professional experience. Then to basically

push them out the door because you fear they may go over and cut a wire on the

tester they were hired to preserve and maintain.

I had emailed my ex boss of specific manuals I had brought

with from my former employer Teradyne, notably an A585 installation and

hardware maintenance, and Image/Solaris software installation, Teradyne spec on

wiring, and all my Catalyst manual,

I said they had my name on them. But they said there was no

manuals there with my name on it. I then emailed him specific documents that

had my name on them, that were in specific manuals. He did not reply! This is

out rite being a thief! I may or may not ever need those manuals but they were

not theirs to take. Again very low and unprofessional

I seek no benefit from this only to punish this bad

behavior and to make it halt immediately. THIS

SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO HARD WORKING DEVOTED WORKERS IN FLORIDA.
