On Friday, July 16, 2010, I took my Amana microwave oven to C.J.'s Microwave Service Center on North Armenia in Tampa. Signs assured me that "Yeah, CJ can fix it!" Signs also informed me of an "upfront" repair fee.

The technician assured me that they had repaired over 25,000 microwaves and they would call me the next day (Saturday). On Saturday, "John" from CJ's did call to inform me that, apparently, Amana is not only overpriced but overrated- they don't support their overpriced products with spare parts. No parts were available for my Amana microwave, so it can't be fixed. What a ripoff! Amana doesn't have any spare parts to fix their microwaves and "John" (shock!shock!) just learned this after I paid my "upfront" fee.

So I did what I hate to do: I went up to my neighborhood discount store (Wal-Mart) and bought a cheap, throw-away, Chi-com microwave. When it quits, I'll just throw it away and go get another one. So much for buying "quality" (American-made) appliances and supporting independent local businesses.
