MIDAS ripoff, mis-diognostic brake check, replaced calipers & hoses not needed. the business that doesnt give a dam NEW PORT RICHEY Florida .....

midas in new port richey florida. my 1999 ford E-150 van pulled left applying the brakes so i took it to midas and they said to replace the calipers and hoses. i paid the $443.22 and when i left it was not different. so the next morning i was there and bob the manager just said to leave it.

i got the van at closing time and they had taken all day to rough up the rotors and pads and was told to drive it 500 miles.
it was still not any better. upon the 3rd visit, they decided to replace the calipers and hoses again and it was still not fixed.

i was then told the abs system was faulty and they needed $800.00 more to do the job right. i decided to take it to the ford dealer and they charged me only $100.00 to bleed the systen including the abs and aligned the van.

it is now perfect as new. midas and the corprate have yet to help the matter or offer a refund. midas shop wont call back nor answer the calls from corprate customer service. i am now out $443.22 and got new parts it didnt need.

i will never go to midas nor tell anyone to go there but run the other way as it can happen anytime.
as this web sight and others i found and with all the people at corprate taking the calls of complaints, its no small job to hear them all so there are many people employed to do just that, HEAR MIDAS COMPLAINTS !!

why would he tow a trailer to the shop when he is getting his car fixed? Of course he didn't say that because he didn't do it. He is simply stating that he tows a boat on a regular basis. He even said to the ramp and back. If your really an example of the type of employee that works at Midas then it is obvious that they get people who don't pay attention to what they are doing and I wont be giving them my business. Then again since you no longer work there maybe the problem is gone.

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR COMMENTS, HERE IT IS.

I ONLY HAD THE VAN PULLING LEFT WHEN THE BRAKES WERE "APPLIED" TO STOP THE VAN, "NOT" WHEN I DROVE AND USED NO BRAKES. IT DIDNT WANDER OFF THE ROAD SO IT WAS NOT A TOTAL ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. THE FORD DEALER DID BLEAD THE ABS SYSTEM AND ALL 4 WHEELS 2 TIMES. I WATCHED AT THEIR BAY WINDOW THE WHOLE DEAL. IT IS ALSO REMARKABLE THAT THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOOK ME OUT TO SHOW ME WHAT THEY HAD TO DO AND WHY IT TOOK SO LONG TO ACOMPLISH.

I WAS THEN SUMMONED THAT THE TIRES OUTER EDGES WERE A BIT FLARED. DUE TO THE TOE END BEING OUT A FEW DEGREES. ( ALIGNMENT) AFTER IT WAS DONE, I WAS ASKED TO DRIVE IT WITH SERVICE TECH. PROBLEM WAS GONE. PERIOD !! ABS BREAK SYSTEM WAS FINE, ALL ELECTRONICS WERE FINE TOO.

ALSO HERES THE BEST PART. MIDAS CALLED ME AFTER I FAXED THE BILL FROM FORD. THEY AGREED IT WAS MIS-DIAGNOSED AND WANTED TO REFUND SOMETHING TO PLEASE ME CAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A CONSUMER PROBLEM.. I SAID THE MOST YOU CAN, AND HE SAID (MIDAS REP CUSTOMER SVC) THEY CAN REFUND $300.00 BUT THE REST IS COST OF SOME OF THE PARTS USED. I AGREED AND HAD THE CHECK IN 4 DAYS FLAT. HE TOOK CARE OF THE ORDEAL.

SO THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS BUT NOW YOU CAN GO BACK TO REALITY AND SEE THAT MIDAS WAS "WRONG".
I HAVE DRIVEN ABOUT 14000 MILES TO DATE AND NO ALIGNMENT OT PULLING STILL. AND I TOW AN 18 FT I/O BOAT TO THE RAMP & BACK.

when you go into an automotive repair shop and tell them that your vehicle is pulling when braking, they are going to change the brake hoses on the front. i think what this customer forgot to mention was that the vehicle was pulling to the left ALL of the time. that is why when they took it to the dealer, they did an alignment.
