I was lead to believe that Midland Credit Man- agement, settled my Fingerhut account last year. I was told that I would receive a Zero Balance Sheet, showing that it was settled.

As of this date, some 8 months or more have gone by, and I have received nothing.

Twice, I have called Ryan Adams, at their offices, located at, God knows where, and asked for this "ghost zero balance sheet".

As of this date I have not heard from him. Also my credit reports show no resolution of this Fingerhut account, and now it also shows no resolution of the Midland Credit Management account.

While I haven't received the "ghost zero balance sheet", they have been quick to send me several new billings for the Fingerhut account.

These new billings show no settlement of any kind. The last one I received offered to reduce my account balance by 25%, if I settled today.

From here on I will never settle with another credit agency as long as I am still alive, and I am going to put this into my will, so they can't collect from my family.

Hi,
I have a bill from fingerhut that was turned over to midland credit agency for collection.they have been calling and harrasing me and today I recieved a call from them threatening to sue me in 2 days if i don't pay.I too recieved a letter from them a year ago agreeing to settle my debt for $16 and i mailed them a check.it was removed from my credit, but a year later they are back on my case and calling me all the time.they have no record of sending me that letter, and i did'nt keep it like a dummy! Can I be sued for this by them and have to go to court? They claim to have a good case against me. Im upset and confused.Any help or comments on this matter would be greatly appreaiated.

I want to get this issue to court and set a precedent.

Think about something here. A junk debt buyer is NOT a creditor. They do not lend money, and the debtor never signed anything with them.

Here's the good part. My angle.

A junk debt buyer is an INVESTOR. A junk debt buyer seeks out debts that have already been deemed uncollectable by one or more parties. Then this JDB KNOWINGLY and WILLINGLY invests money in something that is worthless and gambles on a longshot for a windfall profit.

How can an investor or a gambler be allowed to SUE anyone because they made a BAD INVESTMENT?

Can you imagine the can of worms this would open up?

Think about it. If anyone could make a crazy investment, then they realize they lost their money to this bad investment, so they just find someone to sue to get their investment back?

That would work well on Wall Street. I can see it now.

I can sue my broker because my mutual funds bit the dust. Talk about a guaranteed return!

These JDB are doing exactly that. They are using the court system to guarantee a return on investment!

TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE OF WHY YOU NEVER DEAL WITH THIRD PARTY COLLECTION AGENCIES/JUNK DEBT BUYERS

Don't be surprised when another "agency" comes after you for the same "debt." Your information will be sold over and over. NOTHING good comes from ever giving a junk debt buyer money..it will hurt your credit far more than it will help. IF a debt is legitimate, deal ONLY with the ORIGINAL CREDITOR.

The sleazy, slimy world of junk debt buyers pretending that they have the authority to take your money to settle a "debt" that you have no contractual obligation to pay to them is why the credit reporting system needs serious revamping.
