Midland Credit Management Calling regarding Fingerhut account filed on bankruptcy San Diego California
I was contacted the end of last year about an account I had with Fingerhut in 1996. That account was originally filed on my Ch. 13 bankruptcy in 1997. I again filed bankruptcy in 1999 but this was Ch 7. Nothing ever appeared on my credit report again. Then I receive a call last year stating this money was due and that I needed to provide proof that the account was filed in bankruptcy.
In April of this year, I sent the company a debt validation letter indicating that I was not refusing to pay but wanted verification that this was in fact my account. This information, by law, is required to be given to the consumer upon their request. I informed them that they had 30 days to provide this to me. That has not happened. I have since called and left a message and have not received a return call.
