MCM has contacted me with the last week (June 20, 2008) about a debt that they had for me from Household Bank Credit Card. They say the debt is 16 years old and that they will settle for 25% of the original debt. They will not tell me how much the original debt was just that the "payoff" is $387.69. I didn't have any credit cards in 1991 and never had one with Household Bank. Suspicious! I contacted my Office of the Attorney General in my state and was informed that they could not collect on any debts that were over 15 years old since the statue of limitations in Kentucky is 15 years for bad debts. They are going after these guys. She also advised to file a complaint with the FTC which I have done.
