On August 20, 2007 I received a fraudulent collection letter from Midland Credit Management fraudulently seeking payment of $1,883.81 for a company called Ready Credit.

Whereas I dont have any unpaid or past due accounts, and had never heard of Ready Credit, I immediately telephoned Midland Credit Management, and spoke to some nasty woman who informed me that Midland Credit Management was fraudulently and illegally harassing me about a CitiBank account from 1988, which was paid in-full almost two decades ago.

Whereas Midland Credit Management's sleazy operation is well know for deliberately, fraudulently, maliciously and illegally damaging the good credit of individuals such as I, by their willful misrepresentations and bald-faced lying to the credit reporting agencies by fraudulently claiming that they are operating under the Permissible Purpose of a Collection. In my case thats a boldface lie, and Midland Credit Management should be prosecuted for their illegal activities.

Based upon Midland Credit Management's scurrilous reputation, I expect that they have already deliberately, willfully, and illegally and with malice, put fraudulent and extremely damaging information relating to this equally fraudulent collection on my credit reports.

Obviously, Midland Credit Management's fraudulent and illegal actions have willfully violated Sections: 807, 808 and 809 of the Federal Trade Commissions Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and therefore Midland Credit Management is liable for damages under Sections: 813 of the Federal Trade Commissions Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I am dealing with the same issue. Midland is trying to collect on an old account from 1991. They have "redated" the debt, claiming it is from 2001 to extend the statute. I have repeatedly requested that they validate their claim but I always receive a request for payment in return. Please make sure you file a complaint with the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission. Midland is a member of the BBB so they will most likely respond to them, usually within 2 weeks.

Good luck getting this cleared off your credit! I've been trying to dispute my account for 3 months now. Hopefully they will be put out of business for fradulant business practices.
