I took my '99 Honda CRV to Midlands Honda because my transmission had been slipping and I wanted to have someone honest check it out. I knew that taking it to the dealership would be more expensive but at least the Honda dealership had a reputation to uphold right? Their diagnosis was that the transmission needed to be replaced and it was going to cost me $2,300.00!!! I called my father who has more experience in this area and I wanted to know if he thought it was a fair price. He thought about it and said that he would have a friend of his (who was a mechanic) check it out. I told them not to worry about it and I took my vehicle up to visit my father and to have his mechanic check it out. As soon as we got back from dropping it off we got a call to come back because the Honda was fixed. When we got there the mechanic was laughing. The repair was 3 quarts of transmission fluid!! A hose clamp was loose and the fluid was leaking out. He tightened the clamp, added the transmission fluid and it has run like new for almost a year now. It is obvious that the mechanics at Midlands Honda have no reputation to uphold. Not a good one anyway. They were going to take advantage of my obvious ignorance of auto repair. I will never take my Honda (or any other vehicle for that matter) to any Honda dealership for repair ever again. I recommend everyone, specifically women and guys who don't know much about cars, stay away from Midlands Honda!!
