This contractor has not paid us for the work we did to his customer's home. Midstate agreed to pay us in payments, but hasn't followed through. When we filed a formal c o m p l a i n t, Midstate called us and said they would never pay us now.

Their B B B membership was subsequently r e v o k e d due to ELEVEN or more unresolved c o m p l a i n t s.

"A Central Georgia businessman is wanted by p o l i c e. Several homeowners say he s t o l e thousands of dollars without doing any work.

Jeff and Jill Venjohn say they called Mid-State Custom Exterior to remodel the rotting door in their Monroe County home. They say a man took a $2,000 deposit and never returned to do the work.

Houston County Investigators a r r e s t e d the business owner, Christopher Kelley, in November, in a similar case. The B e t t e r B u s i n e s s B u r e a u says homeowners in eleven (11) cities f i l e d c o m p l a i n t s against the company, including the Venjohns.

JEFF VENJOHN, VICTIM OF THEFT: "Extremely angry, you go through all the emotions where you just want to throttle them, if you can find him, you want to beat him up, beat the tar out of him, get the $2,000 out of his hide."

Kelvin Collins with the B e t t e r B u s i n e s s B ur e a u says before you do business with any company, feel free to call the B u r e a u.

You can find out if there are any previous complaints filed and if they've been resolved. The number to the B e t t e r B u s i n e s s B u r e a u is 1(((ROR redacted phone number)))

Chris Kelley is unethical and is wanted by police in at least one state, has multiple civil lawsuits against him, and has racked up eleven unresolved complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in Macon GA alone.

He and his wife, Gwen McHenry Kelley, were doing business as Mid-State Custom Exteriors, and left the area in January 2007 after being arrested for two cases of fraud. He is still wanted by police in eleven different jurisdictions in Georgia, and has not answered to any charges filed, two of which are in Warner Robins GA, where he did business as Mid-State Custom Exteriors. He has apparently done this same thing in New Jersey and Florida, prior to moving to Georgia.

He is now in Gig Harbor WA doing business as Repair4Free (www.repair4free.com), Core Advantage Services (www.coreadvantages.com), and CM Kelley Enterprises or CM Kelley Inc. He is not currently licensed as a contractor in the state of Washington under his (or his wife's) name, nor are they registered as a corporation.

They never paid us for the work we did to his customer's home (to the tune of $7,000.00), and they have defrauded dozens of homeowners in Georgia by taking their down payments and not doing the work. And we're not talking the $399 that he has on his new website. One homeowner (whose home we did the work on) lost $30,000.00. Another homeowner lost $12,000.00. Several others were above the $5,000.00 range, while others were $2,000.00 and so on. Ours was the first complaint filed. Within a matter of three months, their BBB membership was revoked.

We filed (and won) a civil lawsuit against him. but at the time he was still considered a Florida resident, and did not own the home he resided in, nor his business, so we will probably never see the money we are owed. But we still feel it was our duty to do everything we can to keep other contractors and homeowners from being victims as well.
