I bought a Northstar engine from mid city auto salvage May 9th 2005. I was told it was a 1998 engine with 32000 miles on it carfax verfied for $1750.00. During the install process the mechanic had problems with the intake manifold aligning with the throttle linkage and the knock sensor was not in the same place. Had to move the intake manifold from the original engine to make it fit. I took the engine #s to the cadillac dealer to get the VIN for the vehicle and as it turns out the engine is really out of a 1995 Seville and had 39,000 miles on it in 1999. I ran a carfax on the engine and current mileage is unknown but based on averages it is well over 100,000.

I got the car back and after one day the check engine oil light started coming on periodically. The condition continued to get worse until know when the engine warms up about 10 miles the oil lamp lights. The low oil pressure message came on a message to stop engine came on. Took it to a local mechanic and was advised engine has internal damage. After some hunting around I found that Midwest auto recycling was the same company opened because of licenseing issues for midcity auto salvage. When I called midwest auto recycling they had me fax all the evidence of the bad engine. This was actually before I knew it was bad and wanted to get some money back for the false advertising. I got a call back from a man named William who told me midwest and mid city are not the same company and he could not help me.

I found that odd since the web site for midwest was the same as midcity's and even had a reference to mid city in the web site which has since been removed. GO to this site to see what the better business bureau has to say about this company and the relationship between midwest and midcity.

the OP is correct as that is precisely what the BBB states as per your suggestion.

You stated:
"WE ARE MIDWEST AUTO RECYCLING
CHECK OUT OUR BBB RECORD"

Wisconsin BBB states:
"As Edward Talyansky is registered agent with WDFI for Midwest Auto Recycling. He is listed as President of Mid City Auto Salvage"

That's pretty cut and dry.

correction to purchase date.

Sorry, that was a typo on the purchase date. The purchase date was May 9th, 2006. My electronic check was cashed on May 10th 2006. Then I began the wait. I was told 7-10 days for delivery. After two weeks I called and talked to tracking and they said the engine was tied up in NY due to shipping around the holiday and all the trucks needed to be xrayed before they could enter New England.

I called every week after that until I finally filed a complaint with the FBAA on June 9th. On June 10th I received a tracking email showing the engine was shipped that day from guess where Milwaukee. The engine arrived at its destination on June 15th 2006. The install was not completed until Oct 5, 2006 because the mechanic had committed to other projects and the delivery was so far behind schedule.

During this period is when I investigated the engine serial #s and found that the engine was out of a 1995 Seville. When I faxed all the material to Mid West Auto Salvage in Oct, 2006 they told me that they were not affiliated with mid city auto salvage. The commentary above showing the relationship of the two companies was cut directly from the Milwaukee BBB site. That engine should be guaranteed until dec 15 2006 and it is back with the mechanic now with what appears to be a bad camshaft engine bearing which translates to JUNK>

we are not Mid City Auto
or have anything to do with this company
this customer is just bitter because he is trying blackmail to get money back for an engine that was purchased almost 2 years ago and according to fax that he sent us is 16 months past warranty.
Just because we are in Wisconsin and both names begin with Mid does not make us the same companies.
Have the customer provide a SHREAD of PROOF that we are the same company.
As far as the website goes we had this site since the day we opened.
Please go to BBB and look up Midwest Auto Recycling record.
