I am filing this report to shed light on the way this company has done business with me. After reading the testimonials on the Midwest Auto Recycling website and the warranty they provided for their engines and transmissions, I decided to buy a transmission that was CarFax mileage verified. The transmission I bought according to Al, was one with 36,000 miles.

I used Visa to pay for the tranny. The tranny arrived after a 23 day wait. It was purchased from another company through Midwest Auto Recycling. I spoke with the person who sold it to them via phone. I was told, "You did not do business with me." "You did business with Midwest Auto Recycling." I, also, found out in this conversation, that the person to whom I spoke with was the shipper of my transmission. Being a third party, he would offer no other information other than my transmission came from his place of business and that he did in fact ship it using Vitran. Earlier on in this transaction, I perceived that I should not follow through with this transaction. I tried to cancel and was told I would have to pay restocking and shipping fees to and from their location. Al, told me, "You will pay $250 to and from which amounted to almost the entire $595. paid for the tranny. I tried to stop shipment and return to them, but was unsuccessful. After asking several times and threatening legal assistance, Al sent me a CarFax report for the tranny I bought. The car had a Ford Dealer diagnostic study done after the tranny install which states the torque converter has excessive slippage. The report further states the tranny needs to be torn down and inspected. When I drove home from the transmision shop after the install, the OD/OFF light started flashing. My home is less than five miles from the shop. It is my belief and the Ford Dealer technician that this transmission has more than 36,000.

I filed a complaints with the Attorney General of Wisonsin and the BBB of Wisconsin. I went back to the the MAR website: www.midwestautorecycling.com and the website is down. Using Google and other search engines I was unable to find the page which lists their many testimonials, warranty, and certification of CarFax mileage verification.

Correction: Al did not send me a CarFax report. He sent me an email with the Vin # to run a report. I, also, filed a complaint with the Attorney General of OH. I did not want to take this route either, but felt it was necessary because my story sounded so much like others who have registered a report on rip off report. If it is too good of a deal to be true, it probably is.
