Door was not milled properly at the manufacturing plant.  The top to bottom was 3/4" off.  The door came with two side lights and was preassymbled.  The company is misleading and unresponsive to complaint.  They requested I fill out their form that describes all types of different dimensions.  I did this and then they requested pictures.  Have not heard back and we are going on three weeks.  Menards also has been very unresponsive and do not seem to be worried.  I will never purchase another product from either place.

That is the worst part. The head guru at mill works doesn't even know how to get a live body. It is corporate shielding. I have installed more doors than the manager of mill works. Any other place would have sent a representative to make sure it wasn't installer error and taken care of it. Didn't help he was smart a**. If I want to ruin this guy it wouldn't be hard. No company would put up with his crap. They agreed to full refund. To bad cant get reimbursed for time and labor of myself and employee.

Too Bad You Special Ordered....

My boyfriend has worked for Menards for 10 plus years, and I used to work there as well.  So I kind of know what you're going through.

From the title, it sounds like you special ordered this.  Unfortunately, when you special/custom order an item, Menards must go through the vendor to get replacements for your order.  They have you fill out the installed complaint form to ensure that the mistake was made on the part of the vendor. There is no way to bypass the form because the product is currently installed in your home.  The plus side is that Midwest is a company owned by Menards, so it might not take as long as you may think.

Also, if you were to uninstall the door and bring it into the store, because it is a special order, you agreed when you purchased the door that returns are not guaranteed.  If the Millwork manager decides he/she will return the item, the restocking fee is 25% (or at least it was when I worked there).
Sometimes the managers will waive the fee since the mistake was made by the vendor.

I'm sorry that you're having to go through this, but know that Menards does respect their customers and will get back to you.  They need time to review the information you provide and remake the door correctly for you so that you don't have this issue again.
