It all started one day when I did an online employment application for Midwest Wireless. I came to a question that states have you ever been convicted by any crime. I stated no not knowing speeding tickets and minor things like that counted. At the end of the application I singed a thing for them to look into my past history even my credit. I had nothing to hide from them. Why not.

A week later I got a phone call from Kim from Human Resources. She told me I had an interview with Mike Champion in the River Falls store. I went up there and we went to a nearby cafe. He interviewed and at the end he told me he liked me out of all the interviews he did so he was going to tell Human Resources that I was the one.

Kim from Human Resources called me back and asked me "do you accept the sales position at River Falls for Midwest Wireless. I stated yes I accept the sales position.

I got a call back later in the day stating that I needed to do a drug test. No problem I passed. She then called me and said my start date was on Monday April 19 2004. I was excited.

A week later she called me back and told me I falsely did my application. I said what? She told me that I never stated I was a criminal. I said what? I am not a criminal. She then listed minor traffic citations and a ticket when I was in college for walking out of a bar with a beer. In fact all my tickets were from teenage years to early college! She said they could not hire me because I lied on the application.

Two days later I recieved a letter from Midwest Wireless stating that my hiring was not final and they could back out on me.

The whole thing irks me. For one I did not lie to them. I am not a criminal.

They mailed me another letter stating my criminality. Even the company that does the criminal letters state in the letter that "The offenses displayed in this report may not be of a criminal like nature. Please consult legal advice before taking adverse action based on this report."

Ok, if Midwest Wireless needs to take legal advice to know if it is criminal, then am I supposed to get a lawyer to sit with me to fill out my application? I highly doubt that they got legal advice. My actions were not criminal!

I am deeply distraught by this. When Kim offered me the job and I accepted I turned down two interviews with other cell phone companies. Can a company discriminate for things like this?

I emailed Midwest Wireless (KIM) for an explanation and they ignored me. This is bad for our nation so I will pursue this until its finality. We do not need this in our country. If anybody has a recomendation please get a hold of me.

They lost a great Sales person!
