Mighty Net,creditreport.com False advertising, hidden charged services, and prevent customer refunds Canoga Park, California
Yesterday, I purchased online a 3 in1 credit reports for my wife and I for $19.99 each - when I received my email receipt, the company had enrolled me in a "credit monitoring" service for $49.95, and charged me $29.90 for each credit report.
I did not sign up for a credit monitoring service, I did not select any checkmarks enrolling me in this service, I was not looking to purchase this credit monitoring service.
When I called to cancel this credit monitoring service immediately today, both the customer service rep, and her manager would not let me do so. First, they insisted that I had selected this service for both my wife and I (two separate transactions!).
This is false. They agreed to cancel the credit monitoring for myself, but wouldn't do so for my wife, because she wasn't present to speak to them. They claimed, "security reasons". I am the one being charged for this o, to my account, and they refused to cancel an erroneous charge that I did not authoritize.
This whole experience leads me to believe this is a poor business practice and scam run by the company to over-enroll customers in services they DO NOT want, or REQUEST.
In turn, the company, claims that the customer "selected the check mark for this", and then makes it very difficult for a client to cancel when they call. I spoke with a customer service rep, and a manager by the name of David Samudio, who hung up on me, after I let him know that I was going to be calling the Better Business Bureau to resolve it
