Please look under Shire Farms, Dixie Horseman Transport, Blueridge Outfitters - these people have used many many different names. Beware horses are not as they are sold to be.

Has nothing to do with bad luck as much as it does just BAD horses

Donna-

There's no "bad luck" about it as you put it. They aren't bad horses just not the horses these people advertised them as. If your horse bites at you then you have a problem horse that's dangerous. I don't know how the Smiths advertised the horse you bought so I can't comment on that but the rest of us 20+ people bought horses from these con-artists that were anything BUT what they were advertised as.

Sounds to me like Mike/Kathryn put you up to this rebuttal from some of the things you say. A well trained, well broke horse does not change to that extreme just because it moves to a different place, unless of course it's drugged. Yes, you can get a good dog from the pound but the pound won't sell or put up an animal for a kid/family that's dangerous. The Smiths are just flat out liars and con-artists..BOTTOM LINE! Sounds to me that your the one who got lucky and didn't end up with a horse like some of us did.

For 3 1/2 years Mike and Kathryn Smith have been selling, on the internet, $200-$400 auction horses, for $2000-$3500. They advertise that these horses have extensive training or, as in my case, lived with them for 8 years.

Since they are auction horses, it becomes a matter of chance as to what kind of a horse it is or what medical conditon it may have. Most of the horses the Smiths had delivered were thin. A few of them looked emaciated-as in rescue horse.

The Smiths had pictures and videos of these same horses in good condtion. I believe that once the Smiths know a horse is sold, they stop feeding it.

Since the Smiths aim their advertising at people who are beginners or are looking for horses for children, I believe that this practise of selling untrained auction horses should be considered criminal.

People have been hurt. If I had wanted an auction horse, I would have gone to a horse auction and bought one.

But, I wanted a well trained horse for a child. I wanted a horse that had lived with its previous family for a few years. I was promised this, but did not get this from the Smiths. I got an auction horse!

To solve this problem the Smiths should advertise their horses as auction or rescue horses so that people are not mislead.

Since no one really knows what kind of training an auction horse has had, these horses should not be advertised as having had extensive training.

I sorry to hear your bad luck wth your horses, but I got what I was told and I love my mare . the other day she tried to bite at me ,but that had nothing to do with the smiths. And yes when I got her she did try me and I put her in her place just like my other 2 mare had to.Horses do change when they go from place to place you just need to know who to deal with them. And I was also from out of state and didn't have a vet ck. until she got to my farm and everything was great. She was to me alittle under weight but some like there horses that way.And yes she knows nothing too like, roll backs ,spins, and the other fancy stuff, but she knows to come when she sees me ,stand to be mounted and dismounted,to stop when I stop riding not pulled in the mouth, side pass and to be a trail horse that is what I got. And I see nothing wrong from getting a good horse from the aution I get great dogs from the pound thanks
