Complaint Review: mike gonyea real estate

In late 2015 my mother who is 84 years old but can still get around pretty well and she insist on living alone and being independent found a home in the Sun City community of Summerlin. It was a home that was being managed by Mike Gonyea of Gonyea real estate. From the very beginning of her experience with dealing with this so called professional it was a complete disaster. Mr Gonyea it seemed went out of his way to be rude and unprofessional with respect to any dealings with my mother who is very non- confrontational and somewhat timid. On several occassions there was a need to get repairs on this home such as a leak in the drip and irrigation system for the desert landscp in the yards and also a leak in the plumbing inside the home. Mr Gonyea after being informed of the problems told my mother that these were'nt emergencies and she could wait till he got back from a vacation. Well it was actually 3 months and 3 rather large water bills for someone on a fixed income to have to endure. I dont suspect Mr Gonyea was on vacation for 3 months.

The next item of inconvenience was the broken dish washer. Standing and washing dishes is not all that fun for someone with alot of neck and back and hip pain. But Mr Gonyea again made this a very low priority and took 6-7 weeks before having someone come out and fix the dishwasher. However the fix did not last and it went down again. It was decided by my mother and Mr Gonyea that my mother would buy a new dishwasher and take the amount off the next months rent. When that occured Mr Gonyea left my mother a very nasty profanity laced voice message and threatened her with eviction if she did not pay the entire rent. It took 5 months to straighten out that mess. My mother once commented to me that this was probably the last place she would ever live and that Mr Gonyea took all of the joy out of what was a fine neighborhood with excellent neighbors. They told my mother that the previous tenant moved away because of Mr Gonyeas treatment.

It has been a few months and all had been quiet, which it is when you dont require any service from Mr Gonyea and you ae just quietly paying your rent. But the minute you need some professional service do not look to Gonyea real estate for that. Sure enough my mother was hospitalized for 18 days and while away Mr Gonyea had some people like painters and landscapers come to the house to fix it up in the hopes that my mother would not be moving back in. Rude is not even the word for such actions. Well someone broke into the house and stole some personal effects that were very valuable in terms of money AND my mothers fondness for these items. Mr Gonyea basically blamed my mom for leaving things like that laying around. They were inside a trunk in her closet. Yes the trunk wasnt locked but the doors to the home were. Mike Gonyea is a dirt bag in my opinion. Its all I can do to not go to his office on tech court and crush his face in. My mom wont let me, but Mr Gonyea, you need to shape up or get out of the people business which is what real estate is.
