Mike Holcombe iPaint Contractor Trenton NJ
Father and Son were extremely professional to deal with when my wife and I ordered a new floor and new carpeting. They were extremely courteous to my wife as she went through the available choices and help guide her to excellent to results. The installers were professional and did an outstanding job in installing the new floor. The results were amazing. The only downside to this whole experience is that we needed a handyman to come in and do some extra work in preparation for the new floor. They handed me a card of a gentleman named Mike Holcombe who also goes by the name iPaint. He came and did some nice work in the beginning but got extremely lazy with his work at the end. My understanding through Mike is that he no longer is doing work for Father and Son and they are better off without him!
Where do we begin, in the laundry room where we had him install a new border, he left gaps, the corner wasn’t even joined and he didn’t even bother to trim down the piece by the heater and quite frankly never even properly attached the border.
That was nothing compared to the job he did in the bathroom, he needed to move the pipes for clearance for a new vanity, I asked him several times about the wallboard in the back but as you can plainly see he didn’t even bother replacing it looks extremely crappy, even on the side he never replaced the wallboard and tried to cover it up with a piece of molding which he nailed into the new vanity. Even the toilet paper holder was put on crooked. He cut every corner and over sprayed the pain everywhere. He even dented the new faucet which I had to run out and replace, he put the new one in and it has a terrible leak.
So what’s his response to all this, he blames the vanity, Mike what does that have to do with the other crappy work that you did? He even went out bought the wrong locks which I paid for then tried to cover it up by saying those locks do not came with the ability to actually lock the door! Then when we called him on he was magically able to get new locks which I paid for, only to keep the other locks, which I paid for never returning them too me. This is when I should have recognized the type of person he is.
I did give him two opportunities to come out and fix his sloppy work. The first time he cancelled on me 15 minutes before he was to come out with his grandmother died excuses. Then he said he would text me that weekend to let me know when he is coming out, surprise no text from him, then on Monday I texted him and he said he would be out on Wednesday. Wednesday comes and he had no intention of coming out. I text and called him and when he finally responded he said he was not coming out until we get a different vanity. I had other contractors come in and laugh about the quality of his work.
Funny thing he lost some much potential business not only from me but neighbors where going to hire him to do work, I even escorted his coworker to another house for an estimate but once everyone saw the quality of work that he did not only are the not using him but helping spread the word on how bad he is. He lost thousands of dollars in work.
So where are we today, well I am still waiting for a refund of the labor portion of 950.00 dollars for the work in the bathroom and laundry room. In fairness I was not going to ask for a refund of the materials only the labor. Funny thing he still won’t produce the receipts on the material costs. Then he offered to refund 500 dollars on the second time he was supposed to come out, then he said he was busy that day (how I knew that he had no intentions of coming out) then he said 400 dollars then he said that he would be over on Friday. Do not trust or hire this guy and Mike I want my 950 dollars returned to me. Funny is that when I paid him he made sure to run to my bank to cash the checks that very day. I was too trusting of him.
