Same deal as the Versace ripoff but now they are using Reportage aka Armani jackets. 3 for whatever you want to offer. They are convincing but walk-away - it IS too good to be true even if they show you a plane ticket and passport.

I was at a gas station (at Fairfax and Pico in Los Angeles) when a young guy drove by and asked if I speak Italian. He looked lost and I do speak a little Italian so I stepped over to his car to hear what he had to say. He said he works for Armani, was here from Italy, had his wallet stolen (of course) and said he had no cash for his hotel tonight or to pay his rental car (which he seemed most concerned about). He said that if I paid the $513 he owed for the car for the week, he would give me the 6 jackets he had, stating they were gifts from the company and worth $1,000. I'll give the guy credit...if it was a scam, and presumably it was, he had all of his paperwork in order: Italian passport (which I am familiar with), showing me his numerous visits to the U.S. for business, ticket from Lufthansa airline, dated to leave tommorow as he claimed, full rental car bill (with name and all), etc., etc. Even his outfit was convincing. I do believe he is acutally from Italy, so I doubt most of this would be much of a stretch for him. He pulled the coats out and I found a few things odd: yes the leather was very soft and maybe of a high quality, BUT the sizes were not European (instead were U.S. sizes: XL, L, etc.) and the stitching was not of what would be expected from Armani (ie., crooked, overshot needle stitching). The box for an Armani watch I bought had better detail. He stated that they were imperfect as they were samples used for modeling a new and upcomming line. He also repeatidly offered to wire me the money back once back in Italy, allowing me to keep the coats as a gift or return them to him for the money once he returns in November. Who knows!? Was he Italian...absolutely. Were the jackets Armani...maybe but doubtful. Was he pissed when I said no...you better believe it!
Here's a general description of the guy: about 5'7", approxiamtely 134-145 lbs, brown, somewhat curly hair, slight unibrow, brown eyes, Armani pants, watch, and very Euro attire overall, driving a black Chrysler Pascifica, name: Pasquale, from: Naples, Italy (on passport). I think that's about it!
