Complaint Review: Miles Shumilak

I was contacted by gomusicbox.com (MusicBox Radio) by Taryn (most likely a fake name, but doesn't matter as you read on) whom offered an email blast service (essentially emailing their music connections) for $20. My group had a single to promote so I decided to give it a try. I did research and didn't find anything suspicious on MusicBox. I gave it a shot and paypaled $20 (and emailed my single to them) for the email blast and they promptly told me they'd create my artist profile on their site gomusicbox.com and get the email blast ready.

A month and a half went by with no profile creation or email blast for my band. We were met with excuses and eventually automated email replies. At this point, I looked up the name attached to my paypal transaction invoice (Miles Shumilak - name is nowhere listed on their site and for good reason) and discovered the scam record that Miles Shumilak, specifically targeting younger bands (under different business names), offering a service that he doesn't deliver on. I just filed multiple reports, the first with https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/Details#crnt and now have a Paypal Case open to investigation, waiting to be escalated.

I'm a little surprised this dude has gotten away with doing stuff like this for as long as he has. I'll do my best to make sure that changes so other bands won't be scammed at least on the musicbox radio front (and to get my refund for an undelivered service).
