Miller-Plante Inc. Smooth talking solicitor got me! I Was Told They Are In Maitland, Florida But Their Website Gives No Address Florida Nationwide
I was called by a solicitor from Miller-Plante on 4/4/2009 (about 2:30pm) asking me to purchase a septic tank additive. The gentleman was very pleasant and the fact that we have never treated our almost new septic tank with any product convinced me that I needed something. I had looked at products in grocery stores and they seemed pretty expensive and the caller convinced me I could save lots of money using their product. So, I gave him my credit card number and placed the order for a two year supply.
After hanging up, I went on the internet and found so many complaints that I immediately called back the numbers from the Miller-Plante website intending to cancel the order I had placed less than an hour before. I only reached Chrsitine's voicemail and left my name, address and phone number and asked her to call me back ASAP because I wanted to cancel the order I had just placed.
Christine called me back on 4/6/2009 (two days later) at 3:40pm and said she would have someone from our cancellation/return department call you back. When asked why I wanted to cancel the order, I simply said I had changed my mind I never told anyone who called that I was concerned about all the complaints registered against their company.
On 4/7/2009 a gentleman from returns called me and explained that it was too late to cancel the order it was shipped the same day I placed it. Note: The day I placed the order was a Saturday and the package arrived 4/16/2009 by regular mail how could it take 9 days regular mail and what are the chances they got the package shipped on a Saturday? When I continued to insist that I would simply return the product when it arrived, he then told me there would be a $25 re-stocking fee (this was not mentioned when I placed the order nor was their any mention of a return policy) and then he offered to sell me the whole thing for only $40. I declined and said I would be returning the product and that I was filiong a dispute claim with my credit card company.
On 4/16/2009 the package arrived and was too large for our mailbox. Fortunately I was home and the mail carrier drove up to the house with the box. I asked him if I could refuse delivery and he said I could (saving me the cost of return shipping but in hindsight, I probably should have shipped it so I could get a delivery confirmation). So, I refused delivery.
On 4/27/2009 another gentleman from Miller-Plante returns called and offered me $50 to keep the product. When I told him that someone else had already called and offered it for $40 he said that's not possible we can't offer that. I explained to him that I had refused delivery and had already contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute claim for the charge.
