Mini-Split Warehouse AMG, Inc will not honor the warranty. My wife and I purchased an AirCon ductless mini-split heating and cooling unit from Mini-Split Warehouse on 10/22/2013 for our family member whom lives in our in-law suite. When we bought the unit, we were told that the unit had a warranty for 12 months parts and labor. Tampa Florida
Since that time, I have attempted to hire three companies to remove the old unit and install the above unit with no avail because these companies state that we did not purchase the unit from them, they do not want to take the liability; this is understandable. On 11/4/2013, I hired a licensed electrician (Which I have a receipt from) to come and perform the wiring to the unit only because the electric needed to be converted from 240 volts to 120 volts. The electrician followed the installation manual and verified that the compressor and air handler did have power, however the unit would not turn on. The electrician stated that he is not qualified to diagnose a problem with the unit and just provided the electrical wiring.
When we contacted them regarding the issue, they said that it is state law that a HVAC certified technician install the unit, however, their installation manual and users manual do not state an HVAC technician and we were never told that until after the unit was installed, so we had no way of knowing. To quote their manual, it says, “Air conditioning units are units that should have the professional technicians do the installation for you.” and does not state HVAC; we were never informed of who to have the unit installed by, nor given this information in writing. This information was just simply not discussed with us at the time of purchase. Mini-split Warehouse and AirCon just assumed we knew this information and patronized us when we tried to remedy the problem.
Since, that time, we have attempted to contact Mini-Split Warehouse (AMG, Inc) and AirCon International, Inc to have them help diagnose the problem, however, both companies keep telling us why they are not responsible for the product they sell and basically giving us the run around to avoid warranty issues. We have several corresponding emails in which we will be glad to forward. We As of 11/12/13 after no help we have consulted an attorney and we asked Mini-split Warehouse to take the unit back and refund our money. As of today, 11/13/13, they refuse stating that they do take units back and blamed our electrician even through they have never seen the unit.
They are stating that they have a company that works with them that will install the unit, however, we do not want to hire any company that are affiliated with Mini-Split Warehouse or AirCon because of such poor customer service and their refusal to honor their warranty. It seems that other individuals have had similar problems with these companies as well per the Better Business Bureau. At this time, we wish to file a formal complaint against them and wish to have our money in the sum of $749.00 refunded. We have absolutely no problem returning the unit as soon as possible. We would like to avoid legal matters, however, seem to have no other choice. Truly, we just want these businesses to be more clear and stop taking advantage of others not being aware of their policies until after the fact. Thank you.

As per our terms and conditions on our website, all systems must be installed by a licensed HVAC contractor. Per your complaint, you had an electrician do the entire install on your system which voided your factory warranty.
If you wish to return the system, we do not accept systems as returns if they have been opened. We will however, take the unit back from you, get it tested and repaired (if it can be repaired)- then we can refund you less a 30% restocking fee. If your system has been damaged beyond repair by your electrician, we will not be able to do anything for you, you should contact your licensed and bonded electrician to cover your expenses on the damages they caused.
To solve your problem, Contact a HVAC contractor who can communicate with AirCon to properly diagnose the system. Keep in mind if parts are needed, you or your electrician will need to pay for them.
We have diagnosed that your electrician miss-wired the system, causing your indoor PCB to not function properly. We sell these PCB's for $199 if you would like to order one, but please make sure to have it properly installed by a HVAC contractor.
