In September of 2005 I came across an ad on a website for Miniville Yorkies. There was a tiny male Yorkie advertised on the site. The ad stated, "I have a couple of little boys left that will be around 3 pounds full grown. Tiny baby doll faces and each one is full of Champion bloodlines."

I contacted Miniville Yorkies and spoke with Gayla Striplin about the puppy she had for sale. She assured me he was full of champion lines, no health issues in that line and would be an excellent little dog for breeding, which is why I was purchasing the puppy.

I told her I could not pick up the puppy because of the distance between us and she said she could fly him to me. I asked if him being only 8 weeks old and so tiny if he was to young to fly and she said, oh no she does it all the time and has never had a problem. She sent me the sires pedigree but said she did not have the mothers, but would get it.

I sent Gayla Striplin $2350.00 for this puppy. Money sent I now learn she does not have the pup it belongs to a breeder in Texas and the mother has no pedigree of champions.

I go to the airport to pick the pup up. Airport personell come out and tell me to come with them that the pup is about dead. I took the pup out of the carrier, which I seen at that moment this was a large puppy, not the tiny puppy I purchased. They got me some sugar and water and I worked with the little guy while Personell talked with Striplin on the phone.

The puppy arrived with one sheet of newpaper to lie on. No food or water containers. No food taped on the carrier for the puppy. Striplin was told this was not the puppy I paid for, he had a large open fontenal,( a birth defect that my vet says is genetic and should not use a dog with this for breeding) and was almost dead.

Striplin said to put the pup back on the plane to Texas. Airport Personell told her that they could not do that, and if they could the little puppy would be dead before it got to Texas. I told her I had no choice but to try and save his life and her make arraingements for his return. This is not the puppy I paid for.

I got the puppy revived and took him home with me. I took pictures and sent to Striplin who admitted it was not the pup I purchased. Striplin resold him a week later. I asked that my money be returned. I did not get what I paid for. She would not return my money.

Striplin contacted me about a litter she had that would be ready in December, that I could have a pup from that litter. I still asked that my money be returned. Striplin sent a pedigree of the parents.

This is where Mike Striplin gets involved and says this puppy is out of their best stock. "Comes from an excellent pedigree". They will be coming to Arnold Missouri to visit his parents for Christmas and can meet us with him.

I still asked that my money be returned. I receive an e-mail from Gayla stating that I can either take this pup or nothing. I was forced to take this pup.

I met Mike Striplin with the pup. I looked at the AKC papers and asked why the pedigree Gayla had sent for the sire was a different name on the AKC papers, if this was the same sire. He said no the sire on the pedigree had been dead for some time and I would have to take it up with Gayla.

I took the pup to the vet. He found the pup to have only one t******e and advised the pup be returned, he could not be used for breeding.

My vet called Gayla and told her his findings. She told him that if the t******e did not come down by 6 months of age they would take the dog back.

I spoke with Mike Striplin the next day, who told me if my vet felt that the pup needed to be retuned now that he would take him back, to call him the next day and let him know what the vet suggested.

My vet said he told Gayla the pup needed to be retuned now. Well the Striplins would not answer my calls, I left messages, no calls were answered.

I finally made contact with Mike Striplin 8 months later. He told me I could have a operation done on the dog to have the t******e brought down and use him. I explained to Mike that that is not the type of breeder I am. This is a genetic problem. THis is not what I sent $2350.00 for.

What happened to the tiny, 3 pounds full grown, full of champion bloodlines puppy I sent $2350.00 for?

The Striplins were sent documentation from my vet stating the t******e will not come down and that this is a genetic problem. I asked that my money be returned.

Mike Striplin said if I want to go legal to go for it.

How is it legal for someone to advertise they have something for sale, take peoples money, and send whatever they want to of less value, not send what was paid for. My money should have been refunded if they did not have what I paid for.

Gayla, you state that only one person has been unhappy (to say the least) Then where are all of these reports coming from. It seems that when ever a customer is not happy with a puppy, you attack them. You will perform shady sales to the wrong person sooner or latter. I learned many years ago that the customer is always right! Don't you realize that if you continue on this way that you will have no business?

These people are incredible. They were sold a dog by another breeder, and we were only the link between her and the breeder who was in Texas. They called us for a puppy but we didn't have any available and they were told this as well. We knew of someone who was in trouble because of the hurricanes in the south and who we had experienced to have good stock.

We actually have one of this breeders dogs now and have had no issues. They bought a puppy, paid money that was immediately forwarded to the breeder and they were sent a puppy. It was their OPINION that it had an open fontanal and didn't want the puppy. This puppy is now a beautiful dog producing top offspring for another individual, who to this day is amazed these people passed up on it.

We found this alternative owner for the unwanted puppy and arranged for the dog to be picked up. Of course that is not mentioned. We then GAVE (FREE) a puppy from our own stock, drove 6+ hours to deliver it by hand, and didn't ask for a thing in return. They were told that we weren't sure if it would be as small as the other one but that the parents were no more than 4 pounds.

One year later I am told of an issue with the puppy. Not once in a year were we contacted about this problem. We asked that the puppy be sent to us so that we could have our vet examine the dog and determine if there was an issue. They refused, and a male got on the phone, possibly intoxicated and began to curse, threaten, and belittle my wife and I.

I will not entertain such behavior and told them if they wanted to discuss this further, to contact my attorney. They have not done so. They did file a report with the Attorney General of Missouri and their office as well as the USDA and AKC have interviewed us, visited our kennels, and during their investigation have found NO ERROR on our part. They have even noted that our kennels are eligible for Blue Ribbon Status.

As for their claim of pedigree differences, the pedigree was for the original dog and were told the one we were GIVING them did not have the same pedigree. They knew this up front. Now we are out our own dog, never received a penny for anything, and we are dishonest? We have many people who will tell you that we are one of the top kennels they have ever dealt with and have bought numerous dogs from us.

We have 3 in the show ring this weekend, 1 scheduled to be on Montel, several that have gone to famous people and only this one person thinking they were "wronged". We have apologized, offered solutions and all they want is to complain. We are done with this issue and are looking into a slander suit for this false and unfounded fabrication.
