Mirmont Treatment Center is a scam.  All they do is show movies; AA/NA meetings (that you can attend for free).  Waste of time and money.  Rude; ignorant; and cold staff.  They just make money off of perpetual relapsers.

At Mirmont Treatment Center you will never see an MD after your admission.  And; the one that they use, Dr. Gallo recommendation made my condition even worse.  If you are really serious about getting off of drugs/alcohol than I would suggest going elsewhere.  I hear that Ashley Treatment Centers are much better than Mirmont.

Also; I saw (and was offered) more drugs while I was at Mirmont Treatment Center than I did on the street.  Totally inadequate and inept staff.   And; very dirty facility...

Addiction Treatment & Recovery

Almost none of the "modalities" offered at this (and most other "rehabs") have not been scientifically proven to fight addiction. Just out to make money off desparate & suffering people. I thought that it was a DISGRACE; it was like being "treated" in a hospital in a "Third World" country...

WASTE OF TIME & MONEY!

#10Author of original report

Thu, June 07, 2018

For decades, Americans have clung to a near-religious conviction that rehab — and the 12-step model pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous that almost all facilities rely upon — offers effective treatment for alcoholism and other addictions.

Here’s the problem: We have little indication that this treatment is effective. When an alcoholic or drug addict goes to rehab but does not recover, it is he who is said to have failed. But it is rehab that is failing alcoholics and drug addicts.

The therapies offered in most U.S. drug/alcohol treatment centers are so divorced from state-of-the-art of medical knowledge that we might dismiss them as merely quaint — if it weren’t for the fact that alcoholism is a deadly and devastating disease.

GROUP THERAPY a WASTE of TIME at RENEW FAMILY SERVICES

#10Author of original report

Tue, June 05, 2018

There was only one other person in the "group;" and, the "facilitator" was a VERY "slow."  The owner of Renew did cancel that group (most likely not because it was un-helpful; but, because it was unprofitable.  It seems as if her entire staff (at least the ones that I saw) were a little "behind-the-8ball."

If I had had a co-payment at the time; I am sure that owner Hope Stein would have waived it.  But; it is still a complete waste of time and was of no help.

Several of the male staff members "came onto" me while I was at Mirmont Treatment Center.

Just a MILL!

You or your loved one will never see an MD past admissions no matter how bad your condition may be!  Also; you will never get progress reports for your loved one and good luck getting your loved one (or anyone else who works at Mirmont) on the phone.  Unless there is a problem with PAYMENT; you or your loved one will be "pushed through" and then "dumped" back home after 28 days.

The amount of "relapsers" that I met while I was at Mirmont Treatment Center outnumbered the "first timers."  While they do not encourage it; I suspect that Mirmont Treatment Center makes the most money off of people who PERPETUALLY relapse.

Treatment for other co-occuring MH issues is NON-EXISTENT although it is "touted" by Mirmont Treatment Center.

Staff talks about patients behind their backs (to other patients) and I saw (and was offered) a LOT of DRUGS while I was at Mirmont.  Very "sketchy" facility; Mirmont is...

NOT BENZO WISE/ BENZO AWARE

#10Author of original report

Wed, May 30, 2018

If you have been on Benzodiaspines for any extended period of time; a slow medically monitored "taper" should be implemented.  There is no way a "10-day detox" will work despite what Mirmont Treatment Center's fancy brochures state.

Also, if you do a "10 day detox"; you will (most likely) experience a plethora of other Mental Health problems; and, although advertised as such; co-occuring diagnoses/treatment is NON-EXISTENT at Mirmont Treatment Center.

Unsafe treatment center

Short-term residential detoxes are inappropriate for benzo withdrawal no matter what the staff or fancy brochures may say (in my opinion). Benzo withdrawal typically takes weeks and months and is best done at home with the proper information, support and comfort measures.

They just want to 'push you in and out.' Individualized treatment is not true; and, treatment for "co-occuring" MH issues is non-existant...

Just want your MONEY

#10Author of original report

Sun, May 27, 2018

You will never hear from anyone at Mirmont regarding your loved one and good luck getting a hold of them once they have your loved one.  They just want your money/insurance.  They prey on gullible/desparate family members who will pay for this useless service "over-and-over" again.  Waste of time/money.
