Purchased a Mitsubishi WD 57733 new, and paid quite a bit more than the cost of a regular tv because it was supposed to be a better product.

After seven years of use the DLP chip has slowly failed till the picture has become unbearable due to the pixels failing causing the screen to be covered in over 100 white dots looking like snow fall.

3 well known manufactures 1 of which is Mitsubishi used the same DLP chip in the production of their tv's. 1 has now acknowledged that chip produced and installed. During the years 2006-2007 was defective.

Upon contacting Mitsubishi taking the model and serial #. It was acknowledged that the registration had been done on purchase of the product. After explaining the situation the representative, refused to repair or replace the defective product, repeatedly falling behind there "warranty".

A tv should last longer than seven years, it was known that at the time of purchase I would have to buy some lighbulbs, but the tv it self is nothing more than garbage now. It pains me to put thousands of dollars in the dump.

That was alot of money 7 years ago.

Tv's should last if it is taken care of properly, line and neutral surge supressors with voltage regulator.

Know what your talking about. Before you assume.

Because you look ignorant to me.

Can you read, or are you that ignorant. Mitsubishi is a RipOff, and you’re a representative Of Mitsubishi. There will be a law suit if they do not step up to the plate. Tv’s last over 20 years, get it through your head. If it cannot be done they should not make it. I've been in the service industry over 30 years, my family started in 1930, you don't know what your talking about.

First of all you didn’t Read. Purchase to problem, 7 years. Do your math.

As you put it, did you make the same amount of money 8 years ago?

I had a JC Penny’s tv that lasted over 30 Years, the kids moved out and it went in the trash. I had a Magnavox projection screen, due to the size and power consumption. I got rid of after 22 years.

I bought the Mitsubishi to replace that unit, and get into the 1080p HDLP, Digital programing. If I’m not mistaken 1080p HD it is still the norm since Cable Company’s do not produce the 4K required for the High definition sets yet.

If you can do the math and read, and have knowledge. I was on the second bulb, and neither one had timed out.

The fact is you compare the hours of usage, 50 years, 10 years, 7 years, with the usage number (hr) never changing. It was a RIPP OFF, the bulbs were understandable. The chip that makes the tv (same thing as a CRT tube) is the SCREEN.

The fact is, that HDLP chips produced from 2006-2007, that the 3 manufactures ‘used as stated produced a product/bought a product that was a faulty.

1 has come forth. as far as I’m concerned, the manufacturer will be sued.

Thanks for you false input.  Mitsubishi. It is tracked.

TV's don't last forever..

You do realize that it is 2015(almost 2016), so you are talking about a TV that is anywhere from 8-9 years old depending on exactly when you bought it.

It doesn't matter what you paid for it back in 2006/07 because that was the price back then.  What ever you paid, I would bet you can get a much superior HDTV now for a fraction of the cost now.

You say a TV should last longer than 7 years.  Okay, so just how long do you think it should last before it gets your stamp of approval? 8 Years, 10 Years, 50 Years, long enough for your Great-Great grandson to use it?  The bigger question...how long was their warranty?  Because that is all they are legally responsible for.

However, I will bring this up because I am sure you will do what ever you can to find how they "ripped you off".  You will find a couple of Class Action Lawsuits against them for quality issues.  But if you read into the details you will find that this suit was started in 2009...when your TV was still working fine.  It was settled in 2011...again your TV is still working fine.  In fact your TV still worked fine for 4 more years.  But here is the thing, that suit had NOTHING to do with the DLP Chip.

No I do not work for this company or any other TV manufacturer.
