Wife and I went to Mobile on the Run to purchase cigarettes. Boought cigrettes and left (approx 10:12am). Dropped her off at the airport and swung by Mobil to exchange cigarettes on the way home (about 10:45 am).

Talked to the cashier that sold the cigarettes to my Wife. Cashier proceeded to the back of store to talk to Mgr (or so she's called!). Cashier came back and told me they were unable to exchange them (didn't give me a reason)and I said, "what am I going to do with the wrong cigarettes?" She went back to her Mgr. Cashier then came back with another cashier and said the same thing..."I was just informed by my Mgr and we cannot exchange them." I asked her why and she said, "I don't know..."

Proceeded to inform better half and she called the Mgr. Better half called me back an said the Mgr said, "It's company policy and they don't know if they were tampered with...If we were to sink them in water, we woud be able to tell if they were tampered with..." Wife said, "Okay sink the cigarettes in water." The Mgr then said,"We can't do that, then they will be damaged..."

I have called the owner of the store and left a message...go figure?! Tried to look for a "Corporate" number or email to get more information or help but to no avail...

Will keep updated...

You said you purchased the cigarettes by going into the store. Why would you buy the wrong brand? Why would you leave the store with them instead of asking the clerk for the correct brand at the time?

I don't smoke, but I understand that cig's can go stale, or as the manager said, you could have tampered with the package once you left the store. I think they were just protecting themselves from you "exchanging" stale or tampered cigarettes for fresh ones. Not saying you did so, just that this doesn't ring up as a true rip off. Very unclear, here

How a regular smoker could buy cigerattes, not check to make sure they were indeed the correct ones right there, and then go back a half hour later and expect to exchange them.

Both of you were right there on the premises at the time of purchase-if they indeed were incorrect, one of you could have gone right back in the store immediately.

I wouldn't have exchanged them either as they stated-they don't know if they were tampered with or not.

The store is then ultimately responsible should something happen to another purchaser of that pack of smokes.
