Mobility City HOMECARE AMERICA OF SOUTH FLORIDA, INC. My father purchased a Prowler 3310 mobility scooter from Mobility City located at 1801-C 45th St, Ft Lauderdale FL on January 15th 2016. 7 months later on August 4th he took the scooter in for repair due to the head light no longer working. He was advised that the control panel, an electrical component needed replacing and was charged $284.95 for the repair. That was for the part $229.95, labor and freight. He asked the serviceman “Mike” why the part was not under warranty since according to the scooter maker Drive Medical; electrical parts had a 14 month warranty. Mike told him the part was not warrantied. . Ft Lauderdale Florida

Mike told him the part was not warrantied.  While visiting my Dad during the Christmas holiday, I went down to speak with Mike about the part but was told by the business owner Vincent Baratta that Mike was out until Tuesday and there was nothing he as the owner could do about the issue.

I returned on Tuesday and asked Mike about the part, he said I would have to contact the manufacturer, Drive Medical, for a refund. I stepped outside the store to call the very helpful folks at Drive Medical and they said my Dad should have only been charged for the labor, not the part and they agreed to call Mike while I was on hold with them. They returned to my call and said Mike had told them the part was damaged by the user so it was no longer warrantied. There was never ANY mention of this user damage until the manufacturer had the vendor cornered. So not only are these people thieves, they are also liars. And they took advantage of an 83 year old man.
