Typical Nigerian Fraud

#2Consumer Comment

Tue, December 20, 2005

Joanna,
Not sure what happened based on your post, but looks like typical Nigerian Fraud Ring. They will send you an e-mail like this trying to prey upon your greed. They will then tell you that they cannot access the funds in Nigeria and ask if they can send you a check to cash and wire the money back to them with you keeping a certain percentage. All this is done hoping you will not wait for the check to clear. In the end all you have is a bounced check.

They are also known to use home based business's that ship out of country. They will use some poor housewife to ship all of the goods they purchased with stolen Credit card info overseas and when the police/FBI catch up to them all they have is some poor woman who had no idea what she was doing.

And of course on-line chat rooms stating they need money for a plane ticket to come see you. These guys will spend months forming a relationship with some lonely guy hoping to get a few thousand dollars out of him of a supposed plane ticket.

Hopefully you did not fall for any of this. I saw a post a few days ago and some guy lost $4K on the first scenario.
