This is a Lottery Scam. They provide what looks like a cashiers check with a letter informing the person they have won the North American Lottery Inc., the date the lottery was held and the category which was won; and the ticket number.
In this letter are details of the total dollar amount of the winnings, what to use the enclosed check for and specific directions on how much money to send to pay the taxes on the winnings via Moneygram or Western Union.
After the person sends the money to pay the taxes they are to receive the rest of the winnings, which will be delivered by FedEx or UPS. There is advisement to contact the claim agent immediately for further clarification within 5 business days.
