The representative listed the company as Superior Security; however, later I found out the hard way that it was Monitronics. I knew that something was "wrong" when I signed the contract.

The representative listed my husband's name as the customer and my social security number for his account. When I tried to cancel the account because I realized that he was not paying the bill, a representative told me that I was not authorized to do so because only his name was listed.

After the account was placed on my credit report, the people located in Legal Services would not admit that they made a mistake and absolutely refused to remove the collection information. They did, however, change it to show that it has been paid.

I have proof that they never contacted me to collect a payment nor did they ever treat it as a joint account. I have proof of this as well. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau which also was not any help! They have sided with the company because I signed a contract.

The only time that the contract is being considered is when it applies to my responsibility to pay the bill. When I was made aware of it, I paid it. My question is why aren't they responsible for contacting me or notifying me? What happens to their contractual obligation to me?

They do not have any proof that they attempted to contact me nor did they allow me to cancel the contract when I tried to. This is truly a ripoff!!
