Monitronics International terms of adhesion Dallas Texas
Moved into a new house in the Chicagoland area. My spouse was approached by roving security installers with a free installation pitch. . . .
GLARING FLAWS IN INSTALLED SYSTEM
Installed system uses hard-line telephone system. (burglars simply cut the telephone line and the whole thing is ineffective afterwards). After paying on the system for two years, I call the company, and request an alternate response system - i.e. mobile technology solution.
MONITRONICS INSISTS ON PAYMENT FOR $500 'CHIP' OR $500 BALANCE OF 3 YEAR CONTRACT TERM
Monitronics says my current system doesn't work with mobile technology, but for a mere $500+ I can have the 'chip' installed. I ask who owns the equipment in my house - they say "you do, it's paid off". They say whatever I do, I'm on the hook for a three year contract, on which, incidentally a little over $500.00 remains.
MONITRONICS BULLIES THE CONSUMER
I give notice that I immediately wish to terminate the contract, want them to remove -their equipment- which is tresspassing on my property - and take any action necessary to minimize their damages on the contract term.
***I can't imagine how "not monitoring" one system causes them any expense.**
***I disconnect my hard-line phone, change to a VOIP account.
They are unable to monitor my alarm, but continue to insist that I'm obligated to pay the remainder of the contract -- even though they are unable to monitor the system!
They insist that I agreed to be (tied) to a phone carrier during the next three years at this residence - notwithstanding that I'm moving in a few weeks.
