Complaint Review: Monmouth Motorworks

Monmouth Motorworks ripoff, given a price of $2,600 for a remanufactured motor. The bill came up to over $4,500. On the way there the idle arm fell off I could have been killed due to the fact I had no steering. Manasquan New Jersey

Given a price of $2,600 for a remanufactured motor. The bill came up to over $4,500. The check engine light is on and the oil presure gauge spines around. They put in a idler arm and center link. When I complained about the check engine light and oil gauge they told me to bring it in. On the way there the idle arm fell off I could have been killed due to the fact I had no steering.

Once they came and towed it back to their shop I get a call about a week later telling me the repairs would come to $600.00 plus. I told the owner of this shop he was out of his mind if he thought he was going to get me for more money.

The car has been sitting in my driveway since I brought it home. The car is a 1987 Monte Carlo. I would have never agreed to have the work done knowing the bottom line would be over $5,000.00. I don't use it because I,m afraid the wheels might fall off again. I have a three year or 50,000 warranty. The check engine light light is still on, and he did nothing about the oil pressure gauge that worked the last time I used the car.

I spoke to a gentleman that was picking his car up the same time I was. He told me they did the same thing to him.
