I am a residence of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17112.
Recently I bought a used car from a private seller in Lancaster. Before buying I got it inspected from Lancaster toyota. They told me that Transmission flush has started getting dirty so it's time for Trnasmission flush and fill service.

I took my car to Monro muffler/brake & service for Transmission flush & fill on morning of 6th July 05. They told me that it will be done by evening. Evening of 6th July 05, they told me that service is done and I paid the service charges to take vehicle home. They also told me that the Transmission flush and fluid will last for another 50000 miles.

On 7th July 05 I took appointment with Harrisburg Toyota for 90000 miles services and change of timing belt. The service was done by evening. When I went to collect the car, the recommendations included the Tranmission flush again. I have a hard copy of their recommendations. I was surprised, how 50000 miles flush lasted just one day.

I went to Faulkner Toyota in Harrisburg to get it checked. They too told me that Tranmission fluid is dirty and needs to be changed.

This lead to a conclusion that MONRO has cheated me, and charged me for doing nothing. They never flushed and changed the Transmission fluid. I don't know how many customers they might be cheating.

I wouldn't never have known this if I would not have gone for 90K service to Harrisburg Toyota. I don't know what should I do now.

Please advise/help me.

Take ALL the paperwork back to Monro. Show them that 2 dealerships concur the fluid was NOT flushed and allow Monro to make it right. More than likely, they will do it. If you do not give them the opportunity to correct this, you will not have a chance to get any future compensation from them. Most shops don't really flush the fluid anyway. They shove a suck-tube down into the transmission pan and suck it all up.

Then, they refill the transmission. They call that a "fluid change", but it is nothing of the sort. All they have done is add a few quarts of clean fluid to a couple of gallons of dirty fluid. In effect, they still leave you with gallons of dirty fluid. It takes about 10 minutes. An actual flush requires time and lots of clean fluid.

The fluid is flushed through the cooler lines. When the fluid is clean coming through, the flush is complete. Most cars take about 12 qts to get it done. I charge $75 for this service. If the customer also wants a new filter installed, they will pay another $75. What did Monro charge you? I am curious about one thing.

Why did you have Monro do the "flush" and then take it to the dealership the following day for the rest of the servicing? I think it would have been easier to just have the Toyota dealer do all of it while they had it. Was CHEAP part of the equation? If it was, was it worth it? Take the car back to Monro and settle with them. If the locals won't help you, call their corporate number.
