Monroe Muffler And Brake Service Inspection cited problems found to be false at a subsequent independent inspection Lancaster, Ohio
Two weeks ago I requested from Monroe Shocks And Brakes in Lancaster, Ohio an oil change and front-end alignment. I received the oil change and was told that the alignment could not be done due to a bad idler arm and bad wheel bearings.
Today I requested a second opinion from a local shop and was informed that the idler arm was slightly loose and that the wheel bearings were as tight as they could be -- nothing wrong with them and nothing that would prevent an alignment. Additionally, the service personnel at the second station were taken aback at the quoted prices given to make these repairs at the Monroe shop.
I called Monroe and informed them of this discrepancy and and received nothing but defensive posturing from the manager. I believe selling me unnecessary work was the aim of the shop's evaluation of my vehicle's front end.
I will never recommend Monroe for any kind of work in the future. Too, I will educate others of this practice, as well.
