Complaint Review: Montgomery Wards

Montgomery Wards Midnight Velvet, Seventh Avenue, Grandpointe,Monroe and Main, Ginny's, Country Door, Ashro, Swiss Colony, Tender Fillet and all other ister stores in this group. They won't let me use my available credit with them even tho I am current on all my accounts because I made 11 orders in a 2 week period and they ay they are protecting me from fraud even tho I have c Monroe, Wisconsin

I have been a customer of these stores for a long time now and I have a store charge account at all of their sister stores. Recently I made a total of 9 orders of some women's clothing from several of the stores where I have an account as I am getting ready to travel to Wa. State to visit my son and his new wife at the Army Base Ft. Lewis McChord before he deploys to Afghanistan in October for 9 months.

We had decided to have our Christmas during my visit since he will be overseas during the holiday season. I began to place some more orders for xmas gifts and so they would arrive here in time for me to take with me on my trip. I began to notice that my orders were being held or they were asking for a 100% down payment to process the orders. That didn't make sense because I have over $1000.00 available credit combined, at the stores where I am ordering. So I called and emailed asking what the problem was.I also checked to make sure I wasn't behind on any payments anywhere with them and that I truly do have an available credit with the store's remaining.

Finally when I got someone on the phone who could actually address the issue they told me it was a safety override due to all the orders placed in that short period of time. So I let them know that there is no fraud going on here and I am the one who made all the orders and explained to them why as I did here above and asked them to promptly fix this so that I can get my orders delivered here in time for my trip. I was then told unless I make the 100% down payment I will not be getting my orders. They said they can not over ride the override basically and I am out of luck.

I let them know that I have been a good customer who pays their bills on time and keep all my accounts current and that I am highly upset over this treatment and that I have spent allot of money with these stores and brought my entire family and some good friends to them as new customers.

How can a store who just sent me several credit increase letters suddenly stop letting me use my credit when I've not been behind and have done so much business with them? Is there anything I can do? This is  really messing up my Christmas with my son and new daughter inlaw. Help someone!!!!

The rep should have switched you to orders or customer service.  What we generally do in these situations is replace the held orders.   If quite a few are held we try and space the re-orders out by a few days as this generally doesn't trigger this saftey override.

The reason that safety trigger is there is due to so many freaking fraud orders.  You wouldn't believe the gaul of some people who have no morals.   It's helped stop a lot of fraud orders, and I know this from experiance of them getting held and the real person calling in saying it's not them.

I am so sorry that all the information or options were not given to you, I can only speculate as to why.  I know this is being posted late, I am honestly bored right now and found SC on here and decided to answer some of the issues people are having.   Even when off work I still end up deciding to work!
